Simple Answer: You cannot compare with Sony Display quality.

Display is not the alone in a TV, there are many things need to work to render final picture

1. Sony Display Panel will have many local dimming zones for HDR images, more the dimming zones, then blacks will be more sharper and image quality will be better

2. Sony Panels will have better native refresh rate so that images will not blur much on motion

3. Sony Triluminous engine enhances the colors

4. Sony Xluminous engine corrects noise in the images on the fly

5. Quality will be better

6. Sony has got different display types i.e. LED backlit, OLED

7. You will get many options to customize the audio/video in Sony but cheap TVs will provide basic options only

All the points said above are not applicable to Sony alone, these are applicable to Samsung, LG too

+ Apart from all the above, New technology is QLED (quantum dot), has got Excellent color gamut, buy this technology to see the picture better than Natural view.
Samsung Models Q6FN, Q7FN, Q8FN
-————————
With Mi earlier 55 inch and Latest 55inch difference is
This (latest) Mi 55 inch TV is Direct LED, earlier one is Edge LED, that’s why 2018 model is thinner

Edge LED
+ points
Thin Panel
- Points
Low (sometimes uneven over time) brightness

@thisis.ravi538479
@schumacher
@djfreaky2808 why marq, is it best than others ? how is LG ?

Marq is cheapest.. If i had budget for lg 55 i would hv bought lg.. I hv lg 42 inch from days at the times of crazy cashback in paytm which could be transferred to bank. Marq is priced lower than that. Marq smart.. Not marq android. The new mi is also launched below 40k so maybe there could be some offer there.. During republic day sale will go for among marq thomson mi iffalcon depending on best offer. Led panel is luck too, so even with stringent quality check it may go kaput. So 55inch led plus best extended warranty offer altogether below 36kish.. I hv a budget of 60k in which i have to buy primarily abv 300 ltr minm 3 star refrigerator non haier and a 55inch led.

Also best is subjective to your usage, some tv s are ahead in smart features and some in pic quality. In budget segment from comments reviews what i understood was best to buy vu pixelight and get android smart tv box from china. But vu pixel light is not availabke in stock nowadays. Also hearimg about this shinco brand but not taking chance with that.

great reply – to add to the points above :

a. remote – of sony samsung lg top models are work of art, quality is top notch – for cheap brands one cannot compare at all
b. technicals – ram and memory are more in premium brands like cheap leds have 1 gb ram and 8 gb storage but high end models have 2 -4 gb ram and upto 16 gb space
c. software – all the OS of sony, samsung and lg are developed by inhouse tech teams are stable and smooth experience
d. upscaling – top brands have great color saturation and image upscaling downsizing techniques which cheap ones will not have at all
e. rnd – premium brands have in house rnd teams who discover and develop technology and many patented ideas which one cannot find in cheap tvs

to sum it up – cheap ones are good if some one is not bothered about quality and premium picture – but expensive ones are worth what they charge – thats why we have iphones and samsungs being sold alongwith mi and lava

iphone and samsung price is not directly propotional to the quality.

the value of quality will depend upon the persons preference for quality – samsung sony apple are leading companies for a good reason – i would rather buy a low spec samsung phone than a high spec lava phone for same price – what iphone can do with 1 gb ram or 8mp camera even high end cheap phones cant do same with 4gb ram and 16mp cameras.

I saw Mi 4x pro 55 today, the following are my findings

Positives
1. Premium Looks, Richness of Software and Hardware
2. Fastness/Responsiveness of Hardware
3. Image Reproduction, supports almost all latest Video formats
-————————————————————————————————————-

Negatives:
1. Brightness levels are very low, images are hardly visible against even with secondary sunlight reflection
2. Color depth is almost 50% less than VU LED TV (I compared with VU 50inch 50D6535 model)
3. Sound is WORST than all TVs I viewed so far
4. USB Placement is at worst position, you cannot plug if your USB drive if it is little wider, I am unable to plug Kingston, Sony sticks, so alternatively used extension cable to plug them in

My Overall Rating for this TV 3/5 while my rating for VU LED TV is 4/5

So think before buy

It seems others like Vu, iFalcon, MarQ are equally or more good at low price and those may not give premium looks like Mi

bro mi is also budget range only, now mi quality has come down a lot, also premium brands also have budget models, LG / Samsung / Sony has OLED etc. TVs costing lakhs for 55 inches and same also have for 70 thousand,

Branded Budget ones are definitely more classy and finished products and compete with cheap brands permium models

Top brand is Sony followed by Samsung and LG – rest all are Budget

Sony is not the alone at top range … Samsung have latest technology (QLED), though this is only LCD and not FALD unlinke Sony/LG OLEDs, QLEDs produce very very rich colors.

Bud in the budget range itself, my suggestion would be the below, when price/performance is computed

VU
MarQ (MarQ may be superior to VU but this is new brand so placed at second)
iFalcon, Thomson,
Mi

First three are good only in Panel, and Hardware and User interfaces will be poor
Mi has got above average hardware and rich user interface and average panel

So, in budget, People who want just a TV - VU is the best option , if TV+, then look for

For Rich Colors and Connecting to PC- Samsung QLED (Q6, Q7, Q8, Q9 based on budget)

For Clarity of images and connecting to PC – Sony/LG

For those who can wait …
No TVs are freeSync/G-Sync enabled today, future Tvs may have for more clear motion clarity
