Sorry for bumping a very old thread. Just wanted to give a quick short opinion on Redmi 3S 16GB after 3 days of usage.
Pros
Compact and small size, feels very ideal and makes me thing why more companies don’t come up with good 5" devices. It’s slim, light and small compared to Redmi Note 3.
Better but not too varying battery life compared to RN3
Cons
Slow, I mean slooooow! When compared to RN3 this feels very slow, everything including the screen turning on after a call, app launches and page navigation are damn slow! Never really thought the processor in 3S is this bad.
Speaker volume is very low. I am missing lots of calls if I am not in the same room as the phone is.
So that’s it. In general the camera seems to be good for a 7k price range phone. The screen resolution is crisp and clear though it is lower than RN3 so no complaints there either.
If you have a strict budget limit and/or want a small size phone then this is a decent buy but at the same time if you can afford/live with RN3 then I definitely recommend that. I have never used a phone in sub 15k range that is as perfect as RN3.

It’s not the processor at fault, it’s MIUI. If i purchased a Xiaomi handset the first thing i would do is load a custom ROM.

Agree it has a very heavy UI, it’s no different with RN3 too but it just works. I need a phone that works without me rooting it and loading custom roms. I can personalise a few settings according to my need but can’t put in efforts to ensure I change anything more than that for the phone work to work well as that’s the basic responsibility of the OEM.
