What do you mean? If you mean amazon import tax they dont tell you anything now. While I know 5 years ago they would refund it if you paid extra.

If your return is due to an Amazon error you’ll receive a full refund, else the shipping charges (onward & return) along with import fees will be deducted from your refund amount. An item that is either damaged or defective when delivered to you will be considered as an Amazon error.

He means 512GB..

Once I did get the tax refund but the other times it was just a part of it but the last few years they dont even send me what the tax and stuff paid was and they usually collect 50% of the cost so not even worth ordering from them now except a few items on sale.. Also I have only ordered it direct and not through this.

I’ve bought stuff via Amazon com directly too and have had the full deposit refunded back but that was way back in 2014 . Now with the new import tax rules I am not quite sure if it’s a good idea

Wouldn’t there be higher chances of getting the deposit back if we bought via Amazon India cause in that case they would anyway be getting a lot of stuff imported and they would have setups in place to evade customs for such small items

So basically no Warranty. If it dies, your 11k are wasted.

Lucky you, I dont think many here would be brave enough to buy like that. Also it was only for like 20 units.

@alienteck @getready

Amazon wont do that. Its the Chinese stuff we might get away without paying import taxes.

I dont know why you even bring this up. Like I said some times there are people who get stuff and sell it cheap but for almost everyone this is not an option. I know I would not buy it. If it was cheap enough I might buy it to play around with but not for anything serious. I used to buy a lot of stuff that that people would buy in bulk cheaply and sell in flea markets. I even got a lot of hard drives to use in testing at work for myself. Since reliability and warranty etc did not matter for such matters.

The excellent Crucial MX500 1TB for Rs 11.7k https://www.onlyssd.com/product/crucial-mx500-2... Crucial now officially provides warranty services in India so no issue on that count. SSD prices will continue to fall throughout the year and beyond probably. QLC NAND will suffice for bulk storage esp. as a Steam drive. Samsung 860 QVO 1TB will be released for ~11k as well. Should only drop down in price from herein.

It was either OLX/Quikr I don’t remember exactly. These were datacenter products so probably not eligible for warranty even if serial no. is accepted.

Those were on OLX. Some people looted Amazon deals during Diwali sales and sold the SSD on OLX for profit. Of course without bill.

But the drives were genuine.

It was also posted on DD I think. I read about it here,

Ah. So they were consumer/retail drives probably . So availing warranty isn’t out of the question if invoice isn’t mandatory. At the rate at which SSD prices continue to drop those who missed out on this deal only have to wait a little longer including yours truly!

You don’t need SSD for storage. Buy a 120 GB SSD for 1700-1800 rs (or 240 GB SSD if you need more) and use it for OS and games. Everything else can stay on HDD.

This is exactly what I am doing right now.

Same here grinning BTW how did you connect the SSD in the HDD cabinet? Every other 2.5 to 3.5 doesn’t fit (smaller) in my cabinet. I had to use double sided tape.
