Covey emphasizes on the differences between independent and dependent goals. He feels that a society solely based on independent goals will not succeed. In accordance with this theory, he details the advantages of teamwork and the long term positive effects it has. Covey also discusses at length the concept of the abundance mindset versus the scarcity mindset. The abundance mindset occurs when an individual believes that there is enough success and plenty of resources to share with others, whereas the scarcity mindset regards someone else’s victory as one’s own loss.

About Stephen R. Covey

Stephen R. Covey is an American author, businessman, keynote speaker, and educator.

Some of the other books by Covey are Principle Centered Leadership, Living The Seven Habits, The Divine Center, and Quest: The Spiritual Path To Success.

Covey received his MBA degree from Harvard University, and Doctor of Religious Education degree from Brigham Young University. During his lifetime, he earned ten honorary doctorates. Covey and his wife Sandra had settled in Provo, Utah, with their nine children. On July 16, 2012, he passed away due to head injury-related complications which had arisen from a bicycle fall in April.
