TRAI extends deadline to choose TV channels, customers now have time till March 31
The framework allows consumers to select and pay only for the channels they wish to view and requires TV broadcasters to disclose the maximum retail price of each channel.

People simply don’t want to pay for the services provided by the DTH companies. All they see is they are paying for FREE channels. They are okay with paying 19 rs for only one channel like ZEE TV or Star TV. But nothing for Tatasky, Videocon, DishTV etc.

Maybe TRAI should implement volume based fixed charges. Something like, if we are subscribed to upto 5 paid channels then pay 50 rs, 100 rs fixed charges for 6-10 paid channels and 130 rs if we are subscribed to 11 or more channels.

LoL. So they thought they could brainwash the mass with the 2+2=2 formula of reduction, but apparently they couldn’t. Now they need more time. And they are extending because of the upcoming election. They are scared AF that a shite ton of voters might go against it, that’s the only reason for extension.

Break a perfectly working thing in the name of fixing it. Charge ton more for the same. See people’s reaction. Ouch, not good reaction. OK wait, give them more time. Goes back to fix the newly broken thing which was earlier a fixed thing. Still charge more then before, but a bit less than last time. Human psychology now thinks okay there is a price reduction finally, as they only compare to the last immediate price point. But looks over the fact they still getting the same stuffs from before, at higher price. Pay more, get less, in a nutshell.

This business has been going on for too long, a normal practice for corrupt businessmen/organisation like TRAI.

So to cut in short..We were paying 350 for all the channels..
Now for just marathi plus pack will have to shell out 344 Rs..
450 something for marathi premium pack.. Without hindi channels and other sports channel except star..

Videocon D2H is forcing fixed selection of 100 channels on all customers, but Trai said that customer can be recommended basic tier pack but can not be forced to take it.

interestingly, sriharikota was formed few days ago, channel owners also require profit since recently, dth operators will not do anymore philanthropy… bhakti mein kitni shakti hai.. if this rule had come during upa era, same people who are giving endless excuses would have been first to cry tearing cloths running on road madly on how government is looting common man. stuck_out_tongue
