(Lava’s First) Prowatch launch date in India, price, specs

Lava, the Indian mobile company is all set to launch its first-ever smartwatch, Lava Prowatch in India. The brand recently teased the announcement banner of the new Lava smartwatch which suggests an imminent launch date of April 23rd. While there are few details about the Lava Prowatch, we have dug through a couple of reports to share a few exciting things with you. The news interestingly has come up around the same time as the Noise Active 2 smartwatch launch (at Rs.3,499 with a functional crown).

The smartwatch market in India is slowly catching up with a trend whether we like them or not (or whether all of them are truly “smartwatches” or not, you might know which brands we are referring to here). As per a report by Counterpoint Research, the smartwatch shipments 50% year on year in 2023 and is expected to see a growth of 6.43% between 2024 to 2028.

To capture the same, Lava, the Indian mobile smartphone brand is all set to enter this new segment.

Lava reported some strong revenue growth in the year 2022 and notably, the brand claims to have about 25% market share in the feature mobiles segment in India. The brand is also one of the top local smartphone brands with a pretty strong offline network.

To further increase the market cap, Lava International has decided to enter into the smartwatches segment. Lava Prowatch, the first-ever smartwatch by the brand is all set to debut on April 23rd at 11:00 AM IST on Amazon & select offline stores.

The Lava Prowatch price in India is expected to be somewhere up to ₹3000 to ₹4000. However keep in mind, there are no official details out yet about Lava’s new smartwatch price in India. If Lava launches its first smartwatch for 3K to 4K, it might be a bit difficult for the brand to sell its new watch to the masses. What’s interesting is that Lava has previously launched a Lava smart band in India which currently costs about Rs.1999 and has an original MRP of ₹3499.

Lava Prowatch specifications aren’t entirely revealed by the brand. But as per leaks and rumours, what we know so far is that the new Lava smartwatch is set to come with Google’s Wear OS, body temperature monitoring, heart rate monitoring, GPS functionality, reminders for drinking water & other purposes. As for the design, the Lava Prowatch is expected to sport a circular, classic metal frame and whether we will see a SpO2 (blood oxygen) tracking metric or not is something we will get to see once the smartwatch is launched.

The all-new Lava Prowatch will be available to buy on major online retailers such as Amazon, and Flipkart along with Lava’s select offline stores.
