After two and a half years of long wait, Whatsapp Pay is finally here with its UPI payment services. Currently, out of 400M Whatsapp users, only 20M will be able to use it as per RBI and NPCI guidelines. This limit will increase as the service boasts in the coming months. It will be interesting to see how Whatsapp Pay comes up with payment deals & offers to attract users who are already attached to the UPI giants, Google Pay and PhonePe. How to use Whatsapp Pay for Receiving Money or setting up your UPI account?

To receive money via Whatsapp Pay, firstly you need to set up your UPI account on Whatsapp. Follow the below given steps to successfully set up your account and receive money hassle-free.

  1. Click on the three-dotted icon which is on the top right of your Whatsapp’s home screen, and select “Payments”.
  2. Select “Add Payment Method” and choose your preferred bank from the given list.
  3. Now, Whatsapp will automatically verify your mobile number which is registered with the bank. Both, Whatsapp number and bank registered number should be the same to set up the account.
  4. Set your desired 4 digit UPI pin and conform it.
  5. That’s it! Your Whatsapp Pay account is now set up and you can easily receive money from your friends & family.

How to use Whatsapp Pay for Sending Money?

It's very easy to send money to friends, family, employees, and many others via Whatsapp Pay, given you have sufficient balance in your account😁. Follow the below steps to do so in quick time.

  1. Open the contact’s chat page to whom you want to send money.
  2. Click on the attachment logo and select “Payments”.
  3. Enter the amount you want to send along with a message(optional) and click on send.
  4. Enter your 4 digit UPI pin to successfully complete the transaction.
  5. You will receive an invoice for your payment and the receiver will be notified.
