Just wanted to inform that freecharge is storing the card details of yours while you avail this offer. This is even if the checkbox of storing cards is not ticked. I know because I recharged one mobile yesterday with my CC and got cashback yesterday. Today morning tried to recharge another mobile through a family account and used the same CC. The recharge was successful but the credits were not given. Got the message that this card has been used for more times than permitted, blah blah.

This was a problem with Mobishit as well. Now freecharge also is doing it without informing us. This is much much problematic than storing cards with Sendly. Not a good sign at all.

It also needs to be understood that it is precisely for this reason that netbanking is also disabled under this offer because one does not get card details.

Please exercise caution while using this offer or use virtual cards.

Ahh crap, you guys do online transactions and don’t even know how do they process? or if you’re scared, dont fall for such 50rs offers.

FYI: they don’t store the card information, the card information is processed by server, which can verify from the last 4 DIGITS of your debit/credit card. So, if you use the same card again to get mere 50rs, the payment server will verify the last 4 digits of your card for the same. Atleast, you should search on Google for such things before posting false information here.

I know this since I have my own payment setup for my business needs.

Netbanking is disabled cause there is no way to verify if the same person is misusing it, with cards, they can verify from the last 4 digits which are unique to every card holder. Hope it clears the doubts.

I aint scared mate. Its interesting you pointed out that last 4 digits are being used to check the multiplicity. However with so many transactions happening, the last 4 digits can repeated across cards and across users, isn’t it? So how does the payment server then check if the last 4 digits, say 3456, of Card A is same as last 4 digits, say 3456, of card B.

Also how is it able to do a cross check without storing the details at all? Somehow it isn’t clear. Can you share web links to explain your statement / process in detail. Coz I am interested in knowing more about this. Thanks.

Dude, If your are well aware of these facts, you should have noticed that the Card Details are entered on the portal of freecharge and not PayU(the PG).
So Straight forward they are storing the card details. I guess theya re storing merely the number and No Expiry or No CVV.
It is not a big deal, dude you can generate as much Card Numbers as you want if you know the Card generation algo.

Last four digits of the card # is unique, and it will never be the same for any card owner. It can be same for Debit vs Credit, but you wont see the same last 4 digits on different credit cards or debit cards as these are generated by Luhn algorithm or Luhn formula which you can google about it.

They verify the card number as 1234XXXXXXXX"last four digits" of the same card as per PCI/CISP compliance regulations. The guy below posted the source of how these numbers are generated.

They give you an option “to store the cc details for easy transaction in future” if you’re not unticking that option, yes your card details will be saved in encrypted like 1234xxxxxxxx"4567". They will match with the same last four digits as I mentioned earlier. It’s your fault if you are not unticking the option to “not save the cc details”. Nothing wrong on this from freerecharge, even payu gives you an option to save the card details, or add it everytime you made a payment. I’m using payu for my merchant needs, and they do store the details again if customer "not unticks the card stored option. This conversation was about they are storing the details to match the card not used again for the 50% offer. Read again before even replying to a conversation with no sense.

PS: when the card details are stored, its stored with the 16digits number, card date/year and cvv number so that you can make another transaction without adding any details. They do ask for the cvv number to match the saved cvv number when you make a payment, and verified by visa password to complete the transaction.

I dont think freecharge would be able to misuse card info.

becoz merely having debit/credit card detail like number expiry date cvv they can make transaction most of the card requires password at card issuing website before processing payment request. for instant whenever i makes payment using my sbi card it redirects me to 3D secure password page of SBI. my transactions gets successful unless i enter correct password also some card has OTP method to authenticate.

I would advice you to use virtual card in case you are fearing misuse
