My friend just bought this laptop and when we did the benchmark test after overclocking it with the official AMD overclocking tool… i blew the lid off the first generation core i7 that another of my friends has… The Processor and Graphics score 6.9 each on win7 ratings chart.

Ram is a little on a lesser side for a machine of this much capability but Add 4 gb of ram for about Rs 1200 (buy it from ebay or flipkart or offline and install it using many ram installing guide videos available on youtube) and you have a perfect gaming machine ready.

Thanks oli bhai but i don’t necessarily endorse that, so holding off. We’ll see, ebay may roll out coupons this week or the next.

Ok guys, Many thanks to Ankit for sharing his views and an excellent deal. I really appreciate his responses and review.

I went ahead and ordered the deal from here at 3m EMI for Rs. 25,020 using the 10% sweetie that Ebay distributed yesterday – http://www.ebay.in/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIte...

I’ll update the review when I get it. Again many thanks to Ankit. I request him to update his post, if possible, with the above link as it seems to be the cheapest (Even with the Axis and other Ebay codes). Thanks https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

Guys ,

I am using this laptop for past six months,

when it comes to build quality of body and screen it is poor or just okay .

when it comes to performance, it is just a power house.

it’s not just 1.4 GHz, it has a turbo boost upto 2.1 Ghz.

there is simple application called K10STAT.

by using it you can overlock it easily to 3 Ghz.
https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif I already mentioned you it is simply a power house.

But to unleash it’s total power you should upgrade it’s RAM .

Wish same config is available in compact form factor, say 12" to 14". 15+" is huge and not portable.

Since intel centrino never looked at AMD side due to performance and battery limitations. Surprised to find this offering with good user feedbacks.

Parth – Many thanks for sharing the US model number and a wonderful link on the laptop. It is quite a treasure trove of information actually.

Will be helpful for tweaking. I checked that this is not available in the US now for $449 at all. It was a deal on best buy for a few days. Saw a listing on newegg too which has expired – http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item...

I think at the current dollar rates, this is only 5-7% more than the US counterpart. So that way I don’t feel having overpaid for it.

This laptop is also available the cheapest from this seller’s website here – http://www.smcinternational.in/index.php?page=s...

Delhi-NCR guys can call him and bargain to get it if interested at a slightly lower price than what’s listed on his site.

Again thanks to all for the info shared. Cheers https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

P.S: – It doesn’t play OpenGL games from what I read yesterday here http://forum.notebookreview.com/7971325-post162.... But the no. of games are fewer and hence should be ok with me. I aint a hard core gamer, so can live with that https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

Thanks for the smcinternational link bro… will try to bargain little with him. Why do you say only Delhi-NCR guys?

And you just paid the sweet spot price for this man… can’t expect this at any lesser after 10% coupon. BTW ebay just sent a 5% off coupon at limit of Rs 1000, so still unattractive for me. https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_confused.gif

^^ – Altruist bro – I said Delhi-NCR considering this guy is based out of there and he may hand deliver / reduce the cost considering the savings on shipping therein. Else one can order anywhere in the country https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

Waise do consider that on the forums there is some talk of grainy picture on some of the US laptops. I’m not sure if that issue has been resolved in the Indian models. So you should keep that factor in mind before buying.

From whatever I’ve read my conclusion is – This looks like a good gaming laptop with an average – slightly better entertainment laptop (since screen is not top notch) tinge added to it. For the price given, I’m ok as long as the screen does not misbehave (I’m keeping my fingers crossed on this!!)

Voted up and suggested.

Planning to get this product since month but worried about mobility due to large size and more weight.

can any one who own this product share actual battery life while browsing web on wifi and watching movies scenario.
Thanks but please share real life battery life and not theoretical one.

I am confused between buying this or get HP ENVY Sleekbook 4t-1000 (sadly not available in india so might need to get from relatives over there).
Thanks,
Anil S.

Altruist bro, the 1 gig card in this model is amongst the medium range cards for playing games. If u r intending to use the laptop for games like Crysis or with high end graphics this may not work in your favour I think. U can google it and find more about it. I would suggest u to wait for a better deal.

I’m able to play Crysis at Extreme, and Crysis 2 at High settings on my AMD Radeon 7470M GPU, 1 GB GDDR5 GPU, with the card overclocked to 900/1150 MHz. The 6650M GPU with 480 stream processors easily outperforms it without any overclocking required. Check the specs for both:
7470M http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Radeon-HD-7470…
6650M http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Radeon-HD-6650…
Go for it by all means.

Got the laptop just now at my office. Was charged 5.5% octroi – Rs. 1529 which has completely killed the deal, to be honest. Very irritating and unavoidable.

The courier was Blue Dart and he mentioned that sometimes local couier guys are able to sneak in high value shipments without octroi in Mumbai. But Bluedart doesn’t. So anyone from Mumbai ordering on Ebay can consider the other players. The downside risk however is that may not be the top courier and hence some worries on delivery.

But the octroi has been a party popper and I may not be ordering high value shipments from Ebay in the future – since octroi will be inevitable here. Surprisingly I had ordered AC a few months back from Letsbuy and they din’t charge me anything.

Here’s my contribution of Rs. 1,529 to the booze of select officials in the octroi dept or whoever they are. Surely it ain’t going to the state coffers in the state Maharashtra is in.

The AMD Trinity is out, which is a successor to AMD Llano (on which the X53TA is based).
We could be see laptops with Trinity in a couple of months/next quarter.
Trinity is about 20% faster than Llano.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/5831/amd-trinity-…

Another point is that the X53TA prices have barely moved. Therefore there is a good likelyhood that Trinity will be launched in the same price band.

My suggestion is that you wait for the Trinity core based laptops.

Man that is so sad……thats always something to think about when ordering in maharashtra….this octroi thing literally kills the joy of online shopping…..even the last time i made a bulk order of 4 qaud core i7 laptops……i made sure they did not take it past the point where octroi is charged and picked it up by myself…..it was very hectic, but saved me the money….something should be done about this road tax (does it even make sense? Road tax!) or else no one from maharastra will buy expensive stuff online

Ya guys, the seller had mentioned in a message that it may be charged. He also wasn’t sure. But had a good chat with the Blue Dart guy who delivered it to me. He said that at the Octroi post of Blue Dart in Bhiwandi for surface shipments (especially for electronic stuff) they take special notice and try not to sneak in anything without paying as it has ramifications for these guys in terms of penalties et. all. Anyway you win some, one loses some https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif So not to depressed about it.

Waise will open the lappie today evening at home and put up the pics in a couple of days. Hope its as expected. Getting a new lappie almost after 6 years. Hope its as per my expectations https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

Dipi bro – I din’t know Letsbuy has that Octroi inbuilt. FB clearly states on the bill that octroi prepaid and hence knew that https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif Waise will check this thing from now on carefully for all orders exceeding 5k https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif
