Is the hardware really good or just ok with the price?

I’d say both. The price is the best we have seen in a while and the possibilities offered by the hardware is really astounding. Plus you have a really good support from XDA. XDA support is what many seek before buying a droid nowadays. Check out the reviews mentioned in the original post or just google it up. You shall know how unique a product this is, without really any competition. Hope that helps! https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

Congratulations BML, and yes 16GB cards are supported. If you look around some site are selling 16GB cards pre-loaded with Linux to be specifically used with RPi. https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

Regarding your request for addon deals, I’d request the senior Desidimers to come to the rescue. https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_wink.gif

Regarding Wifi adaptors, I’ve seen this certified by the seller, as working with Pi. However I’m almost considering buying thisone instead just to check whether it works with the Pi. If it doesnt…well, I needed an adaptor for my PC anyway. https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_wink.gif

Note that exotic Wifi adaptors may not work in all supported OSes. I am willing to hazard a guess that Wheezy supports this. I’ll also get to testing Huawei 3G adaptor E172 and see if I can get it working on the Pi.

The other product that I bought was a HDMI-VGA adaptor and bought one for Rs 150.

Considering the amazing response by dimers for this innovative product, I was kinda hoping for it to become FPD. That would have certainly helped to create more awareness about this amongst all dimers and even people getting redirected from search engines, and get their hands on this product which is not very easily available, leave alone at such prices.

Anyways, the admin/mods would know better. Glad I could do my bit!

It is NOT for developers alone. The PI is a board which when connected to a Monitor, Mouse and Keyboard becomes a full fledged PC. In that line, it becomes the lowest priced PC currently available. Connected like this it becomes the best Entertainment device ever available. Since it can run Linux distros, it can play ANY video/audio format available. Connected to a TV and a Portable HDD, it immediately extends the capabilities of the TV 10 fold.

Raspberry pi is euqivalent to Pentium III 500MHz processor.
Now guess what you can do with it.
P.S. It can’t run any distros, not even android (without heavy modification), but it can run raspberry modified debian. Grpahics is good and can support 1080p.
P.S.S. One will need supported 4GB SD card (at least).

At present time, ORDROID-X is the best board, but price is also high (i.e. $125)

But I never said that Raspberry pi is bad board. Its hardware is weak, but have the best supporting/development community.

And as an user, who is is using raspberry pi for last 2 months, I would say that it really doesn’t. Cause: digital to analog signal conversion is useless.

It does seem an ordinary HDMI to VGA cable might not work here as they are dependant on the videocard. Though what has been found to work in this case is a converter similar to this.

There is one listed here on Kits’n’Spares as well, though it costs more. Look around and you might get a better deal.

Do not buy it from Ebay
Get it from RS components or Element14(through an Indian Distributor)
I bought one 3 Months back for 2400Rs including shipping costs from RS,new batch is a bit more pricey but it might fall down soon.
Please not that RPI bought from Element 14 which is made in UK comes with 1 year waranty whereas one bought from RS which is made in china have only 30 Days warranty.
