In US, laws are very strict. Hence chances are very less that these companies would do fraud.

Is the Indian credit card accepted by Google US play store?
I went till payment screen for nexus 4 16 gb(where it shows taxes and shipping)after adding cc details.
Rs 1 was detected – is it a confirmation that Indian credit card would work.

Thats whats called harakiri. Used/ second hand goods/ electronics are prohibited to be imported to India. Its another matter ppl buy used stuff from ebay/ amazon etc, but that doesnt get caught. By clearly writing"Used Mobile Phone" you are asking for trouble yourself and explicitly at that!

I had a friend coming to India on 31st December and so I tried to place an order on the google play for 16 GB Nexus4. It asked me to set up a google wallet. I entered India’s billing address and US Shipping address. It did not accept billing address from India, so I tried to change the billing address also to a US address on my International credit card, but it said authorization failed. So I am stuck now, I wonder what details you entered to place the order, did u use indian address as billing or did you a us billing address? moreover they require a phone number for validation? which number did you enter there? Please help if you can to place the order.. I have also been charged 50,54,54 Rs while setting up google wallet with different addresses.. I hope this amount will be reimburesed by Google… Let me know what can I do now..?

Yes, you’ll get back all your $1 amounts that is charged by Google. Actually those amounts were blocked on your card for authorization. These charges won’t appear in your statement.
I used HDFC bank’s credit card. Provided billing/shipping/phone# as what Borderlinx provided me.

UPDATE: Google is showing waiting period of 6- 7weeks. If you order it today, you can’t be sure that it will be delivered before 31st dec.

I used Borderlinx not Hopshopgo.They charged $41.78 for forwarding it to India. It includes US → India shipping + Insurance + Custom duty. The package was shipped by DHL.
Didn’t pay anything at the time of delivery.

Although laptops are not duty free, but if it shows that you wont be charged duty, then you wont. I suggest you to go ahead and buy one if the shipping charges are reasonable.

BTW, my shipment that reached Hopshopgo the day before was shipped via DHL today. I paid $2.94 for it which included a surcharge of $2.80 and an Insurance fee of $0.14.

Hi, There is nothing called free Duty even if you declare the item as Gift. I have used almost all the services of frieght forwarders.
1. USPS – Lot of times the shipment would be delayed and few shipments are debonded (Used electronic items are banned in India, this includes laptops, cameras, mobile phones). This is the cheapest but most risky proposition.
2. Shopandship – They are pathetically bad in clearing as they are dependent on external clearing agents (If your product is through Delhi customs you are lucky but if its through Mumbai and the product doesn’t have proper tax invoice (most of the times if you purchase through ebay you will not have one if its a used item) the duty and fine they charge is provacative nearly 45% of value determined by customs of prevailing Market value (This is like Rs 50000 for a used Iphone )
3. Borderlinx – They are not cheap but very reliable and clearance is done through DHL and you prepay any charges upfront and know hat you are paying and there will be no more and no less. The process is hasslefree, I would suggest this method for people who are importing few items over a period.
