the kobo glo comes with the backlight….the backlight is particularly helpful if you are reading at night or someplace where the surrounding light is not available (eg. while traveling in plane/train/bus)
so if you prefer to have the backlight then i suggest go for kobo glo coz the difference isnt too high

Raise a complaint with croma. No authorities will help. Croma has to co-ordinate with courier service to track it down.
Yes, I do agree. As its my first ebook reader, it feels really awesome. Feels bad for missing glo deal but kobo touch is awesome.
I can directly copy downloaded free epubs, mobi files into device. It has a very good touch screen at this price, very light weight and awesome grip while reading.
Wifi updates getting stuck at 49%. Any solution?
How to read from memory card?

Try the desktop version, it worked well for me
Thanks for getting a value-for-money ereader at this price. Yes, backlight would help but it’s definitely a gr8 deal for starters…
I missed the deal… If any one have ordered 2…please pm me…. Is there some other site having best deals on any other eReader?
I got the kobo glo white/pink e reader from croma store same day for 1994 bucks. As that product was out of stock on cromaretail.com, i was ready to buy kobo touch which seemed like a steal too, but unfortunately missed out on that one too. So i immediately went to nearest croma store and they had three of the kobo glo(w/p) available with them and i purchased all three of those for 2k each:-} Luckily all three have been working fine.

Any plans to resell them or planning to use all 3? I will be interested if you are planning to resell. Please PM if so
Off topic, I find neither Kobo Touch nor Glo to be as smooth as my Kindle Paperwhite. There is some visible lag in Kobo and turning pages is not as pleasant as with Kindle Paperwhite. Hope they fix it with a firmware update
Can we use kindle to read downloaded pdf?… What are the best e readers of there?

Onyx Boox , Boyue, Hanvon, Pocketbook, Tolino
These 5 are the best brands in eReaders. Sadly, dumb ereaders sell more because of excessive marketing

is there any bigsize ebook reader with reasonable price..
i know only kindle Dx and that too production stopped…
onyx boox m92/m96 It sports a 9.7 inch screen. Its extremely good but a tad bit pricey

I can get or show you how to get Onyx Boox M92,M96 and M96C within 22- 24K,
But my advice will be wait for launch of Onyx i86 (Expected to be released in May). It is a 8inch eReader with 2500×1600 resolution, and Frontlight (which M92/M96 lacks)
I believe it is going to be most popular ereader after M92

You are missing the point about e-readers. Without an ecosystem of books, even the best hardware won’t be of much use. The percentage of population who buy eReaders to read ONLY pirated books is very small compared to those who buy eReaders to buy instantly buy books and read anywhere.
It is because of this Kindle wins the battle always in eReaders. None of the other ecosystems can match the selection of books available on Amazon. And their service, well let’s just way, it’s simply the best

You can buy genuine books from Kindle store/Amazon and read them on the above eReaders.
Amazon sells books in .mobi format. Kobo and Nook sell it in epub format. Both formats are standard convertible formats and supported by all the advanced ereaders. Just keep device synced with Calibre software on PC.
I have 3 eReaders and once you have gone to an advanced ereader, you won’t go back to Kindle etc. I have made custom dictionaries and for every tap, i get definition from 3 dictionaries at the same time. My notes and highlight are auto-synced in android system. I can read webpages fluidly. I have downloaded pirated fonts that are so good. I don’t want to read books in fonts supplied by amazon. Kindle is just like iphone.
And I dislike kindle/amazon because they have actually stopped ereader progress quite a lot. They are buying all the patents and delaying any good ereader based technology. Kobo is far better than Amazon though.
For scientific users who want to read pdf files, Onyx boox is the only brand they should consider

There are two things you are mixing up here. Not every eReader is intended for reading books. The ones with screen sizes above 8-9 inches are intended at specific use cases aimed at lawyers, doctors, research professional etc. They are excellent options for those use cases, but are terrible options for people who prefer to read books. These large size eReaders are primarily aimed at note taking, annotations, and personal/professional documents
For casual readers who prefer reading books, the size of kobo and kindle is perfect. You can hold them in a single hand for long hours of reading. These eReaders are aimed at replacing physical books. Their primary aim is not to help you take notes or access your personal documents and whatever little they try to do in this regard is an added bonus functionality
I am anti-Apple to the core, but comparing Amazon to Apple is incorrect here. Amazon doesn’t restrict you to their ecosystem. You can sideload any book/personal document without “jailbreaking” or losing your warranty. Kindle in no way stops you from sideloading your books from other sources
Another major difference between Amazon and Apple ecosystem is that unlike Apple, Amazon fiercely competes on price. Though there is the option to buy books from other sources and sideload them to kindle, till date I haven’t found a reason to do so since EVERY single time the price of the book I wanted to buy is cheaper on Amazon. That’s the beauty of Amazon ecosystem. They don’t bind you to their ecosystem through locking down the hardware but by fiercely competing on price.
You can do the research by yourself. Take any top ten best sellers and compare the price on Amazon, Google Play, Kobo and iBooks. I won’t be surprised if Amazon wins every single round. I personally find buying books on Kobo to be way more expensive than other sites. In some cases, the price is 2x-3x times that of Amazon or Google Play
Finally, Amazon is a complete ecosystem. They have integrated Goodreads, Audible, Ebooks all into one service/product. Not to forget if you buy the Kindle 3g version (I have that), you can download books anywhere around the world without paying anything. It’s a completely hassle free experience
Sure, I agree you can’t tinker much (custom fonts, dictionaries etc) with Kindle and you can rate it inferior on those grounds, but when it comes to simple stupid reading, it is difficult to beat Amazon/Kindle. Their ecosystem and apps across platform works consistently well. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same about Kobo apps or services
Regarding slowing down progress of advanced eReaders using patents etc, well I would think it’s altogether a different debate and you may very well be right on those grounds/points
Chroma is absolute crap.
I placed two prepaid orders for Kobo Touch from two different accounts to family members in two different cities. After 10 days, these unprofessional creatures have cancelled the order saying there is no stock.
I understand sometimes people make mistakes, but cancelling an order after ten days is ridiculous. What the hell were they doing for 10 days? To top it, they haven’t even informed me in any way about the cancelled orders. Only when I called them to enquire about my orders, they told me they have been cancelled couple of days back
The frustration doesn’t end there. I have placed the order for Kobo Glo on ebay on the same day for 3600 after discount from a third party seller. I have received the shipment today and to my surprise the seller has got the item billed in my name directly from Chroma for Rs.2000 (original deal price in Chroma) So, basically what it means is that while Chroma has cancelled the orders I placed directly on their website citing out of stock as reason, some third party seller on ebay is able to secure stock from Chroma and sell it at a 100% profit on ebay along with getting the item billed in my name directly from Chroma for Rs.2000
All this shows, some employees within Chroma were gambling with stocks and were doing business with third party sellers on ebay. What a shame really!! Few greedy employees bring bad name to the entire entire chain. On that note, even the CC Rep on phone was arrogant and barked as if he was doing me a favour by cancelling my prepaid orders after 10 days

A friend of mine ordered a KOBO e reader and his prepaid order got delivered to somebody, but not him. Is there any way he can contact the right authorities? Can anybody help?
