Why you guys dont opt for a broadband plan? I can understand some of you might be on roaming and require data card but what about others?

I have tried almost every data card like Reliance, MTS and Tata photon+ and always end up at the mercy of how good is the network. Bad customer service, wrong billing etc etc.

Sometimes I get good speeds sometimes its too bad that I cant even browse. Now I am using realtel broadband which offers 100gb for 1235Rs and happy with the service. No downtime, no bad customer service. I am using it from last 1 year+. I am not a heavy downloader and usually only cross 40-50gb per month. Never touched 100GB in my life.

Check out the plans below:(Delhi only)

http://myrealtel.com/#por…io

If you are in Delhi and need data card instead of broadband, you should try MTNL first. If the network is good in your area, you wont require any other data card provider. Their plans are good enough with no hidden charges.

Isn’t it GREAT that you shift from MTS to other since 2012 and still on DD Showing good confidence in MTS https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_eek.gif

Beware with MTS. They dont let you see your data usage online (like Tata Photon, vodafone etc) & their calculations are double.
MTS customer service is pathetic. It took me 50+ emails with many nasty abuses to the nodal officer to get my address corrected after 3 months of complaint.

I was a customer of MTS in 2010-12 & never faced such issue.

Net speed was lower than my 2MBPS broadband. But it was always around 600-800 Kbps.

The worst CC is of Reliance, followed by Docomo & Aircel (whose 3G is being used right now). https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_toungueout.gif

well broadband is always better and stable if you are at fixed residence. i am using airtel broadband for last many years. rs 650 monthly unlimited plan. upto 10gb, it provides 2 mb limit, and after 10gb, it comes down to 512mb. in last 5 years, it was down only once or twice for 30-30 mins.
broadband is always stable and speed is consistent.

for roaming/travelling, i have a data card and put my own airtel sim card which has 1 gb 3G limit

1st of all, I have BSNL Broadband.

2ndly, MTS’ data plans were not cost-effective in those days. I had to recharge 1k for 6GB only.

Last but not the least, the 3G of both Aircel & Reliance used to give 6GB in 3months (2GB/month & Aircel gives unlimited 2G after that) for Rs.250-280 (Now the price has been raised to 450-500). https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_wink.gif

MTS is the worst service I have ever seen. I got decent speed around 1.5 Mbps for first 50 days. but after that my speed was around 100 to 150 kbps. after so many call and mail I disconnected.

You get these speeds in torrent download only. That too with good seeds . For regular download speed would be around 256 KBps.

broadband is unreliable @ tier2/3 cities, they take atleast 2-3 days to rectify problem, i prefer wireless isp over broadband.. no downtime ..24×7 but costly….currently using aircel 3g 997rs/10gb plan, only for surfing, for downloading i use airtel 9rs/30min ul pack( available only thru recharge cards, bought around 500cards last year), i have used mblaze but never got more than 1mbps with high latency ,same with other evdo providers, now we dont have mts @ andhra/telangana

Going by my experience why you should consider other ISPs over MTS:

1) They dont let you see data usage & balance like Photon, Vodafone, Airtel & others do. You need to call their CC to find out how much data is consumed & remaining. Their data usage logging is highly doubtful. A 220mb test DL added 500mb when enquired with CC.

2) MTS postpaid bills are not payable on Freecharge/Paytm/Mobikwik platforms

3) Customer Service sucks. You write a complaint & they prefer to reply over telephone. If you cannot attend the call then the case is closed. Equally bad are response from appellate authority.

4)Takes long time to activate your connection. Google for more..

5)Roaming usage is charged at 40p/mb whereas photon & others give you national roaming free

6)In unlimited plans speed is sub limited to 56kbps (actually lesser) whereas photon caps you at 112kbps

7) Their is no carry forward of unconsumed data, dont know if others provide

999 for 40GB offer is also available with Tata Photon for quite sometime. But Photon is expensive compared to MTS plans & have some bad customer reviews too.

All ISPs charge you even if you dont use it & you cannot migrate from postpaid to prepaid before 6 months. Plan change possible only from next billing cycle. Sometimes it is very difficult to terminate a postpaid connection as the authority lies with them & you are committed to pay till the time they terminate the connection.

“can always see data balance in their portal,”WRONG info. Maybe that works for prepaid, but not for postpaid. Google for more or verify on 1800 2081955.

“check my balance” in mts software (should be in dual mode or edge mode)" …(There is no software as such ) The MTS Mblaze UI can be accessed locally (not over MTS site) for data checking but it dosent log data usage over wifi and even without wifi data logging is widely inaccurate. I used “Hoo net meter” to verify local data consumption.
