happened with one of my colleague.
around 45K deposited in his wife’s acct (that acct was opened before marriage), after n number of investigations, no owner was found. She gave it to her parents (becoz was an old acct):lol:

Will be a LoL/WTF/WTH moment for that poor husband if bnk people come looking for that money. Who will pay? I pity that husband

Probably this will be the actual story. Or may be someone deposited black money with the help of bank employees. All these things were common before computerisation. Better to stay away from it.

For a matured amount of 2lakhs, for the period of 5yrs; the principal wud be around 1.35lakhs which means an annual interest of more than 10k & that incurs tds & also adds into ur income for all last 5 yrs. If u accept the amount, u’ll be liable to pay atleast of 50k as tax including penalty amount and in case bank takes the money away, u’ll hv to face the loss.
If the matured amount is complete 2lakhs, it’s definitely a catch. Dont go for it, rather get an interest statement from bank for last 5 yrs, if that document shows interest added for all 5 yrs, just grab the money.

It not Exct 2lkh Its around 1,97,459 etc forgot the amount . nd Fd was done near about 1, 46,331 ..

Probably you would have made FD… This could happen with people who do not account for such things….

In that case, it seems the FD is an extension of previously matured FD… In normal cases, the FD are renewed automatically after maturity. Do check for the name in which it was initially created and then carried forward. It is advisable not to touch it as bank even after realizing but will not admit its mistake and will start harassing in case u touch it. Better raise it with the bank and get it rectified.

if it is then lemme tell u I was reading a Hindi newspaper couple of days back..it says axis bank has launched some online Wallet with the name lime if I remember correctly.. n some shit has gone wrong n Ppls accounts are debited n credited randomly.. currently they are fixing it..donno how much truth is there..that’s what I ve read..
