American Express / AMEX -- Doubts and Clarifications
With abounding offers from mobikwik, people don’t know what to do with all the money they add in their wallet. A good way to spend it all, when there are no other offers available, is to buy AMEX cards from infibeam.
http://www.infibeam.com/Gifts/american-express-...
But I can see that many dimers around are not much familiar with how to use AMEX cards. This post is for them.
There are many sites which accept AMEX as a payment option out of which the most important ones are:
Amazon
Flipkart
From hearsay, eBay and Snapdeal accept AMEX gift cards too. Never used it myself though.
One more important addition to this list is BSNL portal. I’ve used their Billdesk gateway to pay my landline bill using AMEX gift card. This is a good thing as we have had no offers on BSNL landline bills so far.
Now coming to the description of the card, AMEX has a card number and expiry date just like any other CC/DC. But the CVV is of 4 digits and is found above the card number itself in a bit smaller font.
Hence we have no work with the rear side of the AMEX cards, so to say.
AMEX cards do not have the 2nd stage 3D PIN / password verification as do cards like VISA / Master. So, your payment is done once you enter the details found on the card. Hence, it’s very important to keep this card safe. Remember.
Paying your landline bill on BSNL portal:
After I entered my card details on Billdesk, it asked for name, email and mobile number. I just gave my own details and it was accepted. So, no need to worry about which email ID / mobile number you used to buy the card. Give them a valid mail id and mobile number, and you are good to go.
.
Hope this helps a few people who are new to AMEX.
Feel free to ask any questions regarding AMEX. I’ll try to answer with all the little knowledge I have.

Axis bank had two type of gift cards
Retail card – sold by gci, can only be used at offline POS
Corporate card- can be used online/ offline
GCI clearly mentioned it is Retail card but last time they sent corporate card and I already used it online
I know that but we are not talking about GCi. We are talking about axis card on Amazon where its not mentioned whether its a retail or corporate card. Its just mentioned in the description that it can be used online. Since the axis card from Amazon is not returnable, we wanted to be sure that it can be used online.
Is this Axis GC available at a discount on Amazon?

No idea if AMEX can be used in petrol pumps. Usually they accept only Master or Visa. But knowledgeable dimers should clarify though.
Mobikwik used to offer 100 max cashback on infibeam. Not sure if it’s still there.
Note: Post your queries here rather than in PM. Will help other dimers as well.
Tried to pay using Amex card on Amazon. Money Deducted from Amex but not received by Amazon.
Getting this message : We are processing your order. If your payment is not completed, we will send you an e-mail and ask you to try paying again.
Contacted Amazon their representative said payment is still not received.
Don’t know what is wrong.:-?

AMEX having tieup with HPCL, so there would be no surcharge on HPCL petrol pumps. But no guarantee that you would find POS supporting AMEX.
For IRCTC, the ticket amount as well as pro-rata refund for gateway charges charged by AMEX are refunded to the same card.
This card can’t be reloaded.

Anyone bought the Axis Bank card from Amazon? If yes, was it a retail card or a corporate card?
Although the description mentions it can be used online, my chats with Amazon CC regarding this were unsatisfactory and I contacted the seller y’day, but no response yet.
Will Be Buying Once I Get Amex..as I Thought It Can Be Used For Wallet and Specially Payumoney
So Will Buy 500 rs Axis To See How It Works
I already have Amex cards but since Axis Cards cannot be returned in case they don’t work online, I thought of asking the seller(Axis Bank) for clarification via Amazon.
Did u Got Any Reply From Seller ?
Contacted Amazon CC and He Was Confused Too However Later He Assured Me That It Will Work Online as Well
Not yet. WIll contact Amazon CC again in the evening today.

Did you contact Axis CC via phn? They have a CC number and they deal with gift card as well.
@rajdesidime Any update on the Axis card issue? I have received no reply from Axis Bank to my message to them on Amazon.
Even my Axis Gift from GCI came deactivated. I pinged GCI customer support with my card no and they activated it in 2 days
Use code 100APRIL on Axis gift card on rediff and get further 100 off
100 on 5000.
@dimernew wrote:

AMEX cards bought with Mobikwik & get Axis cards with it (again 100 off) from rediff
So combine its more then 11% discount (Mobikwik 10% + Rediff 2%) for Axis gift card which can be used anywhere. Not a bad deal
Bought Amex card 5 days back, shipping in progress.
