Correct me if i m wrong. Many are accusing admims/mods that they have asked to use english only. But as far as i can see they have said that you can use hindi but u hv to provide its translation in English (only in hot deals section)

First of all whether its English, Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil or any other national or international language we need to have respect for all and must not restrict anyone anywhere. If we continue to debate in this manner on such waste questions it will likely to be create hostility among us. Why fight over the languages bhai log? I disliked the fact that admins r sowing the seeds of poison by implementing such rules on the forum. I don’t understand what has gone wrong with DD these days. No place of consensus, no peace, all time everywhere only fighting and arguments.

2. Oath thing, i do not know the exact thing but as far as i know it’s his personal opinion. I m not comparing just giving u an eg. When u post a thread u put images in it. Why do u do that? You do that because it’s ur opinion that it will be good for users and it will fetch users to the thread (a very good marketing gig which u play very well). When one asks u why do u post images? You will give ur own big funda of how it helps users in decision making though you know that they will inevitably visit the site to have a look at the product.

I feel so many people are there to translate in case somebody doesn’t understand. Atleast the person who created the thread will always help. And i don’t think he will mind converting the text to hindi/english.

I understand that you were upset over the thread created by Deakseeker..Here are a few concerns i had with the way you choose to deal with the situation.

1) @DealSeeker clearly mentioned a Posts threshold( 100 posts) to participate on that thread. Why did you not abide by the rules set by a thread starter in a giveaway thread? Just for your Info, Most of the Giveaway has some or other kind of rules imposed and most of the rules are meant to weed out duplicate Id’s Why did you participate in that thread knowing very well that you are not even eligible?

2) As per your comments, you believed the oath which @DealSeeker asked to take in his giveaway thread is akin to begging. In that case, why did you participate in something you did not believe in-spite of knowing that you are not even eligible for being in the thread in the first place?

Your thread was locked because Admin/Mods found it inappropriate since you were attacking a member. If you decide to continue with your gibberish, probably this thread will also be locked. I don’t not see any weight in any of your arguments. Unfortunately, you were the one who went against the rules set by a thread starter. If you have a problem with the away giveaways are conducted, stay away from such threads. You can’t have your cake and eat it too.

After reading the discussion I just want to say that languages other than Hindi-English are not widely accepted so i don’t know why regional language people comparing Hindi-English to regional language and saying if Hindi is allowed other regional languages should also be allowed

@thrifty_indian Whenever this issue arises I see only fanaticism parading in the name of nationalism. This attitude is a serious threat to the unity (in diversity) of this nation. What depresses me even more is the fact that even fairly educated people like @ishandon and @rajdesidime keep supporting these narrow-minded opinions.

Please quote one comment of mine (from any ID) where I asked for ban on Hindi. That’s too far-fetched. I’ve always stated that Hindi is just like any other major language of India. Why should it be given a special status?

Moreover, being on a shopping forum, everyone will understand English but can you say the same thing about Hindi? Can you show me one Indian who shops online without a basic knowledge of English? I can show you thousands of Indians who shop online without knowing even the alphabets of Hindi. You just need to open your eyes and see the practical difficulty in what I’m trying to point out. But you only see from the standpoint of a Hindi-speaking man and that clouds your vision too much. Same with @ishandon

Please don’t bring in the Constitution and all. In my view, the articles of the Indian Constitution are very much debatable. But this is not the place for it. Let’s stick to the use of languages only with respect to its practicality on a shopping forum.

I know a bit of French. If I start writing in it and the admin tells me, please stick to English, is it a mark of disrespect to French? Not at all. It’s just a matter of easing our communication. That’s what they are trying to do. Why do you paint them as Hindi-haters and even anti-Constitutional men? I’m sure they respect Hindi as much as we all do. Sowing seeds of poison? That’s not right. They are trying to bring us all even closer by preferring a more common language. That’s a good move, in my view.
