They hv nowhere said that hindi is banned in DD. How r they supressing one’s freedom of speech?

U can express youself in any language u want, so freedom of speech is nowhere supressed. It’s just that u hv to provide translation of what u hv written in any other language of ur choice.

It is my last attempt to make people understand that ADMINS HAVE NOT BANNED USING HINDI OR ANY OTHER LANGUAGE
If it is difficult for someone to provide translation instantly we can request admins/mods to give 5-10 mins to find the translation and post it.

What He, I and many of us are concerned about is not suppression of language,not the constitution, not the fundamental rights.

But the unnecessary hassles involved in a simple, innocuos comment/chit-chat addressed to a particular individual…say “r dost bade din baad” ,“Welcome hai dost” , “R sab mast?” , “Yaar Party to banti hai”….I mean for these one liners which are one-to-one,off-topic conversations….don’t say that one should do message, Create a thread, post in chit-chat thread the same Unnecessary hassles again.

I mean ,Do they create such big nuisance that you BRING in the DAMOCLES SWORD OF SUSPENSION or REALEASE THE KRAKEN………Come on why make it so formal……

Info about deals…on-topic things that I do get should be in English for all to understand but these one-liners.

I believe admins/mods are humans and not machines. Machines will filter certain words and do the suspension work but i believe admins/mods will apply their discretion and not suspend anyone for saying these one liners. But if u use it repetitively then u may be under the radar.
Now if someone asks me how will admins/mods apply their discretion then i m not admin/mod. The best answer u’ll get is from admin/mod team. I was just putting my perspective.

Hey, are you not ignoring the fact that such chit-chat should not be done in the Hot Deals section in the first place? I mean if i see somebody after a long time commenting in hot deals section a one-liner “Kaise ho bhai” or “kaisa raha exams”
Does that create much nuisance…..But then creating another thread or using chit-chat thread….messaging him separately is a bit of hassle. (Yes i am a bit lethargic)
It becomes a bit formal…..No?

Bro, I know exactly where you are coming from. But the problem with such small talk in Hot Deals is that the discussion extends inevitably. Other people join in and keep bumping a thread in the Hot Deals for off-topic things. I have seen this happen many times in the Hot Deals section and spoken against it on certain occasions. If the reasons why this is bad are not clear to you, it’s because other good deals might get missed (pushed down) because of such off-topic chit-chat in the Hot Deals section.

By the way, I am not sure what you mean by “creating another thread using chit-chat thread….messaging him separately”. All I suggested is to tag your friend in the previously linked Chat thread instead of the Hot Deals thread. I (and many others) already use that thread for such off-topic conversations and to draw attention of people to check my PMs urgently (as no email notification is sent for PMs currently).

Also, bhai, nobody is asking you to lose the essence/feeling of your post by being forced to use a language not native to you. All they are asking for is for you to also provide a translation of your message so that the meaning is also clear to other people browsing the thread who do not understand your native language. Moreover, this is basic human decency, don’t you think?

Think about a situation in your real life where you are in a group with people from many regions (south, east, etc.). If you have been in such a situation, I need not say anything more to you. If you haven’t been in such a situation, try to imagine how you would feel if two people started speaking in Tamil or Bengali while completely ignoring the fact that you and the rest of the group don’t understand their language. And then they don’t even bother to tell you what they were talking about. For all you know, they could be making fun of or abusing you or somebody else from the the group.

Well, I agree, to some extent.
It’s the responsibility of every single member of this community not to clutter every deal with irrelevant chit-chats which may result in unnecessary deviation from the original purpose of a thread. You know very well the unending strings of conversations all these result in and how difficult it is for mobile users to go through the deal as such. But that’s another story.
Now, please don’t ask me if one cannot chit chat in English. One can! But the intensity to prolong it to such lengths will be restricted to a great level if one is restricted to write in a foreign language. We find chit-chatting more comfortable when we do it in our mother tongue, don’t we?
Having said all that, I don’t think one can totally avoid this just with the help of a rule (that too on a forum like this). But a rule has to be made atleast with the expectation that people may become more responsible. I don’t understand why this should be seen as a mark of oppression or an attack against freedom of speech and all that in the first place.

Exactly! That just sums up succinctly the difficulty of the entire non-Hindi speaking audience of this forum. Hope every Hind-speaking bhai aur behen understands their situation.
