Hi fellas,

Want to share a happy moment here. My family members had been asking me to get the super-famous Tirunelveli Iruttukadai Halwa by ordering it online. Since there was no way to make sure if they really sent the original one, I hesitated from ordering it online for long. So, I thought of requesting any dimer from that town to help me in this. That’s how I made friends with a wonderful dimer from that town.

I contacted him about this around a month ago. He said he was working in Chennai and would get to his hometown only by the 1st of this month. So, he asked me to contact him on that day and added that he would fulfill my request. But on 1st July, I was a bit busy about things and forgot to ping him. But he himself pinged me on the next day reminding me of my request.
I was very happy to see that and shared my address and requirements, and this morning I received the package. He took so much pains to buy 3Kg of Halwa standing in a long queue and pack it well to ship it promptly. He even took money only after the package reached me.

My family was so happy to receive and taste it. I shared some of it with my friends as well. They all asked me to convey their regards to him. This act of friendliness really touched me, hence I wanted to share it with you all. Good deeds should never go unappreciated. https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

Note: I feel bad I couldn’t share his name here because of privacy issues. https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_sad.gif

@ishandon @DealSeeker @Magus you know guys, one fine day i will come up with completely imagined persona based on your comments in this forum. It would be more like your profile pictures but which would represent more accurately based on your interactions here. Like virtual avatars, present a nice movie about these characters as a intro to DD. And who knows admin may put that as trailer to attract more users here! https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_biggrin.gif

Everything seems amazing here but this particular sweet called as Tirunelveli Iruttukadai Halwa is going to take me 100 years to learn its name. https://cdn0.desidime.com/smileys/EdDC3.gif
Hamare idhar to Gajar Ka Halwa ya Daal Ka Halwa hi hota h.

kya Titli da ..aap bhi!
Kamas kam maahaul tou dekh liya hota DD ka inn dino! :-/

its not THAT difficult, if you can say ‘bikaneri’ bhujiya or Alwar ka kalakand or ‘mhane Sojat ri Ajwain lai dou’ or Aagre ka petha.

Then ‘Nellai’ is the place name and its a small, dimly lit shop so: irrutu (dark?) and i think shop= kadai
its like saying LMB ke ghenvar.

Waise Titli gaaru ye dukaan start karne wale, hamare idhar ke hi they shayad (mharo rang rangilo R)

though the prepration itself is pretty technical
http://www.destinationinfinity.org/2009/12/27/t...
and thus one hopes, itne dravya padne ke baad lazeej hogi.

Vaat ij in a name! A bougainvillea bye yany other name bhud shtill have little or no smell.

actually this goes much beyond ‘without any expectations’.

I just now saw the image in the link i posted (after enabling images) and even otherwise can imagine how a small time establishment gone big must have a ‘haphazard scramble’ with people jostling to move up front.

The un-named soul or someone on his instruction went through all of that! THIS was touching.

And even as midway through your main post when i contemplated messaging you to find a way to give virtual gratitude to the selfless soul, i was later put off by the avoidable (and now routine in D&D) mess that such a good gesture’s discussion had become.

do i get it right that if identified, he’d have to risk getting cyber lynched if not able to or if he show incapability to help ‘all’! (lynched as in mocked, bullied, down karma’ed and downvoted)

indeed the Good Dimertian stands out high amongst the current crop!

As for the halwa itself, it seems the magic is also in local touch (i do believe that the water in some places is really blessed)

but on a hungry Sunday i tried not to think about food, when My options are limited :-/

@Magus no idea if you been to the place but what and how is this muskot/ muskoth halwa!

Would be great if you pm me if any pics of how the noble dimer packed it. I might pester him to start a logistics firm if not for food :p

`
jeez now am dying of hunger. Must defile those last two pieces of milk cake in the fridge. Since its ghee, does it go too hard in fridge? As in does the texture/ chewiness feel better: when fresh or its okay even if out cold

Thanks @D for the Tag bro. https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_sad.gif low metabolism and i already devoured mysore paak, sohan halwa today and now milk cake.. its definitely going to pile! https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_sad.gif

Exactly. He himself did everything from buying to booking the shipment. This is a trouble many of us would not even think of getting into. Some of us might not hesitate to help others monetarily but going through a crowd to buy something for others will not be in our list of services. That’s why I wanted to share this here.

Sorry, I’ve trashed it. What to do with the packet when one has got Halwa in hand? https://cdn2.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_toungueout.gif
We need not refrigerate it. From what I have heard, this Halwa does not get bad for 2 weeks even when kept in room temperature. https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif
