WE have still not got a reply about the last such incident where an admin made absurdly heavy deductions of the karma points of @Magus, seemingly just because some admin/mod did not like the humor in one of Magus’s post. Karma points are not the dimes distributed by the DD management, they are earned by a user for his good deeds. So, unless it’s a non-debatable issue, the admins have no moral rights to deduct the karma points in bulk just because they did not like the tone or the humor of a post.

Very true. @AtulTheDimer You need to provide complete details if you want this issue resolved. Details like the phone model, exact version number of Android, and any other things that might help investigate the issue.

It is the same way as PM ….. as they are not disclosed… Karma’s are not disclosed… so its an individuals choice why that person has given negative and positive karma…. so unfortunately i will not be able to disclose who gave it …. and why he / she gave it is their choice

@DealSeeker Also as the admin/mod team gives our 500 – 1000 karmas to some one at one go … ithen why not deduct in bulk for what they feel could be right (as am sure they would have their own reason to do so… it could be a person constant behavior or could be that post being extremely offensive… what ever the case could be)

Correct me if I am wrong, but this implies that anybody with the power to give negative Karma can keep deducting the Karma points of a dimer on his personal whim or to settle some old score, without the fear of any repercussions! If that’s indeed true, the admins need to re-evaluate this policy as it makes a mockery of the Karma system which I am sure you guys don’t want.

Your understanding of the current system is correct…. we will definitely give it a thought…. but so far we have never come across any such “mockery” but sure will again give it a thought

If deducting the Karma of a dimer just because he created a thread to highlight an issue he is facing is not a “mockery” of the system then what is?

Sure, the tone in his post could have been better. But by his own admission, he created the thread after being frustrated with the lack of response to his PMs for a few days.

If i am not wrong, i have read this statement written by @admin that if anyone giving negative karma then he has to give proper justification and that will too get moderated.

It matters to get a rough idea of whether it was a general user or a mod/admin. If it was a general user, we can chalk this up to a hater or a generally senseless dimer. But if it was a mod or admin, it is not appropriate in the least bit.

Who moderated the negative karma? And what basis? I got negative karma because i raised a concern about dd app. Is this a good reason to give negative karma?

I suggest you let things go. The whole karma system is a joke, so don’t lose sleep over it. I obsessed over it back when I was very active over here but now that I look back at it, I realize how stupid I was. Look around and you’ll see many losers who have 15k karma without actually doing anything. Instead of spending your time over here trying to get an explanation for a negative virtual karma, spend it in your real life to gain some real karma.

more worrisome is new user id’s being assigned ‘display’ names that are ‘the same’ as login-id of older users.

I am/was damn confused, then damn irritated when i could not query the posts of saymyname, while trying to find something he posted. contacting him was tougher as he already mentioned he is trying abstinence from DD. [CC to @A2Zdeals on this last point]

Now imagine, there is ‘no way’ for a general user to query vie desidime dot com slash search for the posts of a ‘saymyname’ or a ‘deepak.k’.

saymyname has requested reuse of his temp dummy id’s login and deepak.k / dipak.k the new user is similar to deepak.k /dipak.k a dead profile from 2011.
[this i was surprised to note when @Beinghuman had tagged one deepak the other day and i click on the name and it went to a dead profile]
