I got to know interesting points about the Standard Chartered Manhattan card. Everyone thinks it is best card but it is also has draw backs.
1. If your purchase is less than 1000 in supermakets and departmental stores won’t earn neither reward points nor cash back
2. Once we reached 500 cashback for the month, none of the transactions in supermakets and departmental stores won’t earn reward points or cash back.
3. For each transaction in departmental and super markets limited to Rs. 200. If you spend 10 k also 200 cashback, and for the remaining money they won’t issue rewards points

No.
I shopped there once for around 2700 Rs. No cashback
Croma is probably in “electronics” category and not “Supermarkets/Departmental Stores” category as needed for cashback.
Hi Guys,
sorry for bumping this old thread. Actually I had applied for a SC super value titanium card and the buggers approved and sent me a Manhattan Platinum card. I went through this thread and this – http://www.desidime.com/forums/hot-deals-online….
U guys have mentioned that utility bills and insurance premiums etc. are not covered under this card. However I have got one pamphlet of Manhattan that says 3 things for new cards.
1. Use card 3 times within 60 days of issue and get 1000 reward points.
2. Register online within 60 days and get additional 200 reward points.
3. Enroll for StanC " Register and Pay" option to pay utility bills / insurance premiums and enjoy 5% cash back through this option within 60 days of card issue for a max cash back of Rs. 500. w.e.f – Aug 1, 2012
So from pt. 3 does this mean that this Manhattan platnium CC is also eligible for cashback on utility bill payments.
Secondly, has anyone tried this on Jabong or any of the DTH websites like DishTV, Airtel, Videocon and got cashback? Where to get this clients listed under MCC codes?
Any pointers would be very helpful and appreciated as I am having half a mind to return this card and ask for Super Value Titanium card. Thanks.

Have titanium and it worked for me on Mobiwik got 5% cashback.. .. hence i assume it must work for manhattan…
hello dimers
Firstly, sorry for digging up this 3 months old thread.
Can anyone tell me how to convince the customer care guys to waive off the annual fee on my Manhattan Platinum card. I have been charged with Rs 1000 plus Service charges.
I tried convincing them through my excellent credit history, before time payment history, good amount of total accumulated spends in a year on the card, threatening to cancel the card (even though I was joking – no way I am going to cancel the card ), but they are not willing to waive off the fee.
What else should I try now? any suggestions guys – specially from those who have managed to get their annual fees waived off this year or past year?
sorry dude. me too faced the same issue. i have communicated their cc and they have informed like adjust with reward points but my points was little bit less with that requirement. so finally they have informed me like pay the complete settlement including the annual fee after an month the annual fee will be reversed. since am having the salary ac. I agreed and done what i committed. after that there was no response for reversal. once again i checked to their cc. they are refused to reverse it. These guys are giving false commitments.
never trust these guys

Once again sorry from my side for bumping this thread but I got a Manhattan Platinum card today. Is it a good card to retain?
I have HDFC Titanium card and going to close it next month. Well I already blocked it on the grounds of security because they are very cheap type of people and don’t even have any sense of talking to their customers.

Yes its a good card to retain, you can use it for the next 10-11 months and if you are not satisfied then you can call them and cancel the card so as to avoid the annual fee of Rs. 999.

Yes manhatton are bloody cheater if they dont extend the free card validity. We are doing free service to their free card, we are being used for marketing and purchasing. so, no strings attached. Is like one year Live In partnership, if u like the card, pay the fee in 12th month instead of 9th, else break the relation. Why sorry ? who ? My foot ?
I got amex gold charge card with a fee of Rs 5056/-, second year onwards, which is duly refunded in 48 hours in just one call end no holding the line, melodrama and seniors approval etc.

keep that card, on some shops they give 5% cash back like Big bazaar etc. (min. single bill > 1000
Its a very good card..I got 5% cashback on various offline purchase..

Is that yourself, nav, in your dp?
I have been using this card for almost 3 years now.
I’ve also got cashback at a number of small stores offline including a liquor shop in Pune Downside is I have to always go for a Khamba rather than addha, pauaas
Also MedPlus gives cashback on this card for purchasing Medicines.
Last time when I was charges 999+Service Tax, I called CC asking them to waive fee as my annual txns are worth lacs, to this they said they cannot refund entire fee but can provide a waiver of 500 Rs which I happily accepted..
Also purchases worth more than 4000 Rs should always be split into multiple swipes.. just ask the guy to swipe 4000 once and the remaining amount second time. They readily do it. This way I make sure that I get atleast 2000~3000 Rs cashback in a year.. with only 500 Rs as fee.
Just sharing tips so you guyz can benefit..
I recently noticed that book my show buy1get1 offer is no more working on my icici kingfisher titanium card.
Can someone suggest me a good card with minimum fee which always works (or most time of the year) on book my show?

Good trick. Thanks for sharing. Though I don’t have such a card now, I’ll keep this in mind. It may come handy in future.

You can also exchange your reward points to pay the remaining amount, that 500Rs is waived off as a service gesture and for the remaining amount if you have points you can always redeem them

There is cutthroat competition among them, which is the best and which is the worst

1 point = 40 paisa(roughly). See below how you can use points
Points 1,250 -Vodafone Bonus Talk Time Rs 500
Points 2,550 -Lifestyle Gift Voucher of Rs.1000
Points 2,850 -Shoppers Stop Voucher Rs 1000
Also remember that they charge Rs 99 + taxes (Total Rs 111 ) as shipping per redemption.
*Rewards r not good. Cash back is best.
