Hello guys,
Wanted to start a thread so all people can share their reviews on headphones/IEM’s bought at discounted/clearence prices so that if those come back in stock would help people narrow down their choices
I’ll start with some headphones I bought at FK during their clearence sale.
Hope more will come forward ,share their experiences and help fellow dimers to get one that suits their needs well
AKG K 430
Some pics :
Size Comparision with JBL J88i(Left) and Logitech UE 6000(Right) :
Packaging (4/5): Good packing though you have to tear some parts to open the headphone. So if you’re looking to resell, better not try to open
Accessories(4/5): Strong, Rigid Clamshell Case. Good enough to carry in & portable. Coming to headphone, volume slider is a good addon
Build Quality(3.5/5): Metal body over plastic , reasonably good & looks to be durable. Very light though. Cable looks thin and may break if used roughly
Comfort (3.5/5) & Isolation(2.5/5): On ear Fit. Doesn’t cover the full ear. Isolates reasonably well though but not totally blocks noise. Ear pads not totally Soft.Has foam but could be more softer. Considering the on-ear fit, it may not matter much though really. No cushioning in Head band but I never felt it uncomfortable due to being so light. Though those with big ears may find it fatiguing & may experience discomfort. Also, may sweat a bit with long sessions of listening.
Sound Quality(4/5): Warm+Sweet Type signature. Lows are reproduced in good control & quality but not in quantity i.e airyness or feeling of bass around your ear . Bass thump is particularly well controlled & very deep, Felt it very much awesome. Instrument seperation & detailing is amazing, their biggest strength imo. Vocals, guitars & drums are seperated in a very good way especially cymbals which give such great touch. Highs are crisp, detailed & very smooth. Mids are recessed & maybe their weakest point being overpowered by its mid-bass, its better this way making it a very fun signature to listen to.
I’d say this signature is perfect for rock/metal or even classical/trance. EDM/Hip-Hop lovers may not find its bass sufficient. Again, this is not for those who like full BOOM BOOM in ear, bass is there especially thump which is deep, but not airyness.
Value(5/5): I’d say a really great buy at 999. At its MRP definitely better options can be found. Sound quality itself makes it worth enough to buy. Would have been a steal if the pads were bigger. Overall, I’d rate this better in SQ than J55i/J88i which I bought @ 999/1499. JBL ones are good in bass the only point they are better in, Other aspects AKG K 430 just blows them out of the water
PS: Just push the left earpiece jack in if you feel bad quality/muddier sound. I don’t know what made a difference before in SQ but now even pulling it back I don’t feel a change
reviews for the aerial 7 please
Didn’t buy them. So not sure
Sorry for the late reply. Honestly wasn’t having much free time so didn’t check.
Depends on your musical preference, I’ve listened to HD 201 before. Honestly no bass, its based on detailing & quality. If you like bass stay away from HD 201. Sennheiser headphones most of them needs a good source as well as amp/equaliser to boost bass. Mostly their HD models are not bass oriented
If you can give me the genre you listen to or your musical preference I’d look for a suitable one
Better you stay away from ALL pistons other than the one in FK. All are FAKE replicas! Only WSRetail with gold colour I.e Piston v2.1 is the genuine one out there
