Even in AOSP dozens of such vulnerabilities are discovered on a regular basis (monthly) which are then patched by issuing security patches. Some are exploited in the wild for a time before being discovered and addressed. The same holds true for every other operating system. From the security blog it seems Xiaomi has already addressed these vulnerabilities which is surprising considering the short time frame.
