6 inch Ereader Group Order

Hi,

I am making this thread to know if users are interested in buying the latest and most advanced ereader at a decent price.

My Reason for creating the thread: I wish to buy Onyx R65 for myself and minimum order quantity from the manufacturer is 5 pieces

Necessity and advantage of the Group Order:

1) Price: There are only four sellers for Onyx devices and they have sort of monopoly over the prices. The previous ereader by Onyx was priced at 180 euros at its launch. The new ereader, having the most advanced firmware of any ereader till date, will probably be priced at 200 Euros or more. If we buy it directly from the manufacturer the cost is 118$ per piece only (This price doesn’t include shippin or custom charges)

2) Firmware: This is the most Unique selling point of this product. This ereader will have android 2.3 OS without google play but users will be able to install applications via apk. Most applications work according to the russian blog which has tested this ereader.
The most important feature of this device is “special refresh mode” or “No-flash refresh mode” or “fast refresh mode”.
Why do we need this mode? Ans: To use ereader as an android tablet. While multitasking or changing the page in a book or accesing dictionary etc from within the reading software – we will notice a full screen refresh or blink. This is very annoying and it is the main reason why people don’t use ereader for surfing websites.
Onyx has developed a special mode which overcomes this issue.
(Technically Know How: Current Eink sceens have 16 bit depth. In the special mode Pixels have only 1 bit depth. This is the reason why refresh rate is increased. Of course the sharpness and clarity of pixels will decrease in the special mode. So for book reading, traditional mode will be preferred but for all other purposes fast refresh mode is a necessity.)

Final Notes: Onyx is a good company which produces ereader with decent hardware and the best firmware and gives updates from time to time. This ereader isn’t launched yet but i suspect that its price will increase further on its launch due to increased demand and low supply. Being the only android 2.3 ereader, it is already getting much attention in discussions at mobileread forum.
Specs are brilliant as well – 1 GHZ processor and 512 MB ram.

There are two models capacitive touch and Infra-Red touch. IR touch is superior and costs 10$ more than Capacitive. I am interested in IR-touch because capacitive touch degrades screen clarity.
The price quoted by the Onyx sales is : 95$ for Ereader + 20$ for HD screen and Glowlight + 3$ for option of Black or Grey Colour.
