Need help regarding CCTV

will help if you quantify the budget or at least note your requirements.

please decide some basic facts about your area and what kind of surveillance you want.
many telescopic focus cameras claim a range of 30 meters or more.. but in reality they do not give out any recognisable features or identification of a person’s face, besides just what clothes they wore

i am not too sure but it will be a three part set-up

camera or multiple camera’s
a DVR (depending on the number of camera feeds, the price and specifics change)
and recording media

most vendors quote randomly all inclusive prices. but better to take quotes for labour/installation separately from above three items.

a camera can also be linked to your cloud systems without wires, but wireless camera’s are still too costly and not available in dome type enclosures

a typical low end local vendor stuff: of two camera, two channel DVR for a small office space/ cabin too can cost 15000-18000

better to fix up Zicom or whoever is in your location to give you time and service for demo or requirement analysis.

take Free advice and clear your doubts then buy anywhere you like

DVR: digital video recorder prices are made unreasonably high, just by saying that our DVR supports two, three, four, six channels.

so look at your requirement and re-look at it with help from industry experts [Zicom people do not charge to do premises/ customer analysis before quotation]

a DVR by itself can only receive and relay to a monitor/ display; a camera + monitor can not record.

You need to decide what hard disk you want to put in DVR

the size of the hard disk and the number of feeds it has to store will decide how many days data it stores.

one suggestion:

for hard disks: do consider the SV35 series from Seagate or any similar surveillance optimised HDD
[I use a 3TB ST3000vx000, but for my weekly back ups of my work data (from cloud and multiple computers) ]

but the benefit of storages designed for recording CCTV feeds is that they are better at multiple read/write cycles
[if you upload your hard-disk data every 7 days and wipe and use it again and again and again.. then it better be good at such repeat read/ write] . the technical term to look for is also MTBF [Mean time between failures]

I am NOT promoting Seagate please. Just buy any nice storage with similar 1Mn hours MBTF from anywhere.

(in these things local warranty can be sought if allowed, by registering the product on brand site.. irrespective of the market/ region they are bought from)

barracuda’ (Seagate) do sometimes give issues because of the 10000/7200 rpm top spindle speed. [I myself have had some issues long long back]

so rather stick with 5400rpm or thereabouts [whichever brand hard disk you choose] if you feel antsy about this issue

by the way, even if 10000 budget, I still suggest: pose as a respectable customer who may have other requirements and let some proper guys check your premises.

Light conditions, Height at which to install etcetera get very technical issues..

arey, please do not be impulsive with this made in U.S.A. or P.R.C. item sold on sites.
better to first look at such multi function claiming camera’s in local electronic market.

I really am not sure where the damn recording media goes.. does it go in the camera placed in premises.

that means even though they may claim viewing on iphone yphone.. in reality if I enter your office, climb up to the camera and fiddle around and take away the camera or the SD memory chip – then everything is gone.

or am I getting it wrong

sorry but I really do not know about such ‘all in one’ marketed items.

doesn’t look so convincing and if its not supported locally, then repair to would not come by.

I mean; how many hours of even low quality youtube or other video [without sound] can a 32GB card give.

an you not push your budget a little ?
may be you have some 300-500 gm hard disk from some junked PC lying around
then those costs too are saved.

This pan, tilt, night vision or two way audio transmission type thing might be good too – if it works

but unlike a DVR which can be at a hidden location under lock, the SD card placement on this thing is the biggest question mark in my mind

yes you are right captain, I will first try to talk some local person who deals in cctv etc.may be they can suggest some good brands.as i have wifi already i will try for ip cameras.actually i just want to less cable work so that rats cant ruin everything like last time

thinking to buy dvr and camers.. should work without power also and night times also… i have inverter in home..

you already had a system and it was graced by the fury little beings.

then I think you definitely need to go in the right direction.

still I am just not updated on these things as to whether two cams (preferably capable to be effective even at 0Lums) with seven day recording and ability to push data to cloud/ internet can come within 10 grand, with peace of mind [good quality]

actually its long time when i buy a camera from local guy( i dont know his firm name someone ref him)
it cost me 6500/- for a camera, cable,and dvr card which he installed in my pc.but after 2 month everything spoiled due to short.lots of wiring and full day pc on its horrified.
so i was trying to search all in one system.its not for actually thieves i just want for solve trading mistakes.

i will sure pm you if i got good solution
