The biggest issue is with repost….sometimes its really difficult to find out even after searching in forums or searching by posts….more so when earlier post is a mass deal ….like say mass deals of amazon or paytm….its difficult for not only the newcomers…..but also for someone who is not very regular….I am against voting down for minor reasons……my one suggestions would be for the moderators to be active in forums and threads…proactive…not behind scene….this also helps seniors ….and desidime as a whole

You have raised an important issue that might be bothering a lot of newbies. People vote down and don’t reply because they do not want to bump a thread that they know is a repost or an invalid deal. These two are most likely the top reasons for such behavior. I hope I don’t have to explain to you why bumping a bad thread is not a good idea.

As the community grows, there come a completely different set of people with different set of mentality. You don’t know what reason a person finds and vote the thread down for. But I am sure after spending ample time on the forum, they learn to appreciate the efforts given by the poster. I hardly remember if I really voted down a thread during past some time even if it was a repost. The reason being is pretty simple that if I can not appreciate your effort because someone was faster than than you, I will certainly not make you feel down too. Because you took your time and tried to share with the community what you thought might be beneficial for them. But yes I will mention over there that someone else is eligible for the credit of this deal.

So with the time comes experience and I am sure that every Dimer is also learning the same way.

At least if u vd,state the reason. Else don’t do nething. Just ignore. So what if its a repost by a newbie or some1? Dnt like it. Ignore it. Dnt vd it and make the op or the particular person go into a tizzy. Bro, I respect and agree with most of your points. But I am dismayed by your ignorance of the other side of this story. If and when someone really starts to care for this community, they wouldn’t want a blatant repost or copy-paste spam (can’t give examples as the threads were deleted) hogging the front page of the “Hot Deals Online” forum. For such threads, I believe it’s better to vote down and alert admins, rather than simply ignore them for fear of hurting the poster’s (corrupt) feelings. When you don’t vote down a blatant repost, you are actually jeopardizing the original, first deal poster’s chances at getting all of the vote ups and FPD credit.

On the other hand, if it’s a seemingly innocent repost (created within a few minutes of the first post), I do make it a point to post a reply with the original, first thread’s link. As a matter of fact, I don’t even vote down such threads, but simply point out the accidental repost via a polite message. Check my history if you feel the need to make sure.

I hope you and others realize the reasons why we have a vote down feature in the first place and why it’s a good idea to use it appropriately. I think I read somewhere that people were earlier able to see the reasons for the negative votes. I think admins should bring back that crucial feature. IMO, it makes no sense to collect the vote down reasons, but not display them publicly. I think they can use a simple modal popup (like the Karma box) or a slide-out effect to make these details available to those users who are interested in them.

Voting Down a Repost is actually good and The feature is available for the sole purpose only !

But what Butterflyboy is saying : He doesnt vote up a thread ( may be he has less time or some other reasons known to him ), So why should he Vote down a thread !

Rest About Disclosing Voted Down reason , i think this is not a good idea , it will only create hatred feeling !

For Example I voted down your thread with a proper reason but You hated that and you intentionally Voted down my Thread which might not be attractive !
