I am thinking of buying antivirus for personal use and have already gone through many antivirus discussion posts here.
My laptop has core 2 Duo and 2 GB ram. Can anybody suggest which will be the best antivirus for my machine configuration??

If You are using the Windows 7 then Windows Defender is the best suitable option..
I am using it from last 3 year I never had any issue and you know its FREE
Just update it regularly and scan you computer occasionally..
If not then Quick Heal is the best antivirus solution for both PC as well as Mobile…
windows defender… I am using pirated windows 7… Will it work on it??
for 2gb ram or less eset smart security is best option. it has AV+firewall. for 2+ ram no other option than kaspersky. avoid big names like norton, bitdefender or quick heal as they spend more on paid reviews and ads instead of product rnd. free ones are worsts.

So kaspersky isn’t for me… and eset isn’t available for less than 500 anywhere…
I am a Pirate
Best for you will be ESET Smart Security and Kaspersky Internet Security.
Since your PC/Laptop is a slow one, why do not you install an old version of kaspersky IS. say KIS 2010. It is not a resource hog.
Download keys from internet and for ESET, just copy paste keys from sites (google search will make it easier)
Do not use QUick Heal, it aint that good.
One more option to consider is Avira Security Suite.

Thanks bro… will try to install eset from torrents or google… thanx for advice… karma to onlyrocky, pankaj.gupta86, marketdimer
Tried to install Avira from torrent, but keys don’t work… Avast keys also not working….
Waittttt…..
Do not install ESET from torrents. It might have virus.
Download and install ESET Smart security from ESET website only.
Then just find the keys from google search.
I repeat: ANY SOFTWARE WHICH CAN BE PATCHED OR CRACKED SHOULD NOT BE DOWNLOADED FROM A TORRENT WEBSITE.
DOWNLOAD FROM ORIGINAL SOFTWARE WEBSITE AND USE CRACK/KEYS TO REGISTER IT.

Well, when software is downloaded from website, it is generally latest version and the keys available on net generally are for older versions and hence, don’t work
what to do then??

Then Kaspersky Is Best Try Lookout Also There Is Future You Can Search Your stolen Mobile By Lookout
Lookout has an impressive user base. There is a completely free version which offers antivirus and scheduled scanning. There is also a locate function for lost or stolen devices, the ability to activate an alarm, and the option to track your phone online via the Lookout website.

Do not worry
for kaspersky and eset both, they keys are always up to date
Been using both since years (7-8).
Just remember that for kaspersky, doing a virus definition update to be set to manual, otherwise it detects the key as fake and stops protection until you download and install new key.
No such issues with ESET. It will not disable protection but it will ask for key for update of database only.

Exactly my thoughts
Kaspersky 2010 and 2011 were not resource hogs at all.
I have tried over years all written above: avg, norton, bit def, panda, mcafee (worst), also used Quickheal, Zonealarm, Avira and many others, but best are KASpersky and then ESET.
I have been using ESET NOD since last 3-4 years and I am very satisfied with it.

Yes, kaspersky AV for mobile is also good.
Lookout is also among the best. so is avg. (all in terms of android)
But in my opinion, you do not need to install any AV for Android devices if you are careful enough what you are permitting to install from play store (by reading user comments).
If you are installing pirated apps, even then you can always know the genuineness of the app with experience of who posted it.
Though if you are really scared, you can install an AV every month for a day or two to check existing apps for malware or virus.
But permanent installing will slow down your mobile unless its 1GB RAM or more.

You meant 1 GB RAM right?
If you are really planning to “buy” antivirus than I would suggest you to go for Kaspersky Internet Security 2013.
Its damn good.It detected a file which was FUD with a crypter which has really impressed me.
Eset Nod 32 is also good. Then comes Avira,Bitdefender and Avast.
Quickheal ,Mcafee,AVG these sucks.Don’t waste your money on this.
If you need Avast Internet Security full version for free with Serial no. register till 2050,PM me.

corrected.. yes 1gb RAM
as pankaj already pointed out, never trust torrent for softwares specially antivirus. for free ones filehippo is most reliable site and lately cnet is becoming place of crap uploads. for shareware or trials direct download from software site is safest. and if you are going to cR@ck search for k3y$ instead of CR@cks or p@tch3s as most of these are infected.
If You are using the Windows 7 then Windows Defender is the best suitable option..
