I am having this combination in my cpu.

consistent 945lm motherboard (http://www.ebay.in/itm/INTEL-945-CONSISTENT-MOT) + Umax SMPS450 (http://www.snapdeal.com/product/umax-smps450-po…)

but suddenly one day when I started my computer there was little noise and I switched it off.It never started again..When I showed it to my computer guy He told me both motherboard and smps got burnt.Motherboard was just 2 months old and smps was 1 day old.

My questions
1.Can motherboard be repaired at local shop when it get burnt?
2.Is motherboard coverd under warrenty when it get burnt?
3.If not,please suggest me a good motherboard
4.Is this good choice ZEB-G31 (http://www.ebay.in/itm/Motherboard-Zebronics-G3…)
5.Which SMPS should I get now?
6.Is zebronics brand good in smps?(http://www.snapdeal.com/product/zebronics-450-w…)

My questions
1.Can motherboard be repaired at local shop when it get burnt?
DealSeeker: Yes, but it depends on the extent of damage. Sometimes it makes more sense to just get a new one.
2.Is motherboard coverd under warrenty when it get burnt?
DealSeeker: Depends on how you present your case. Not covered for power surges or problems in your electrical connection.
3.If not,please suggest me a good motherboard
DealSeeker: N/A; Can’t spare that much time.
4.Is this good choice ZEB-G31 (http://www.ebay.in/itm/Motherboard-Zebronics-G3…)
DealSeeker: No. Buy original Intel, Asus, or even Gigabyte for reliability.
5.Which SMPS should I get now?
DealSeeker: Check hardware websites like anandtech or tomshardware. Unless you have a dual GPU or multiple HDDs, any 400W+ SMPS from a decent brand should do the job. NEVER purchase a cheap SMPS – it’s a critical component. Also see this thread: http://www.desidime.com/forums/dost-and-dimes/t…
6.Is zebronics brand good in smps?(http://www.snapdeal.com/product/zebronics-450-w…)
DealSeeker: No.

See my inline answers above.

Most importantly, buy a good power strip with surge protection (Belkin; learn about the Joules rating and choose accordingly). Also get your cabinet’s power button checked. I have heard of cases where a faulty power button/wiring has led to similar losses. Going by the components you have mentioned, you probably purchased a cheap cabinet so this could be a possible reason for the mishap. You might want to consider replacing the cabinet as well if there is an issue with the power button.

It will be very hard to find a LGA775 motherboard from a decent manufacturer . Your only option is to check with some stores in a computer market like Nehru place to find out if they still have some old stocks left. I would certainly not recommend you to buy a motherboard for your processor now. Pentium D is very outdated processor by today’s standard. DDR2 memory is more expensive than DDR3. There would be no upgrade path in investing in a pentium D based rig.

If you are on a budget, a much better option would be to buy a an inexpensive dual core processor with H81 mobo. Should cost you under 6k. Add a 4GB DDR3 memory for another 2k. It will make a much potent and efficient system.

Unfortunately most of the people do not realize the importance of a good branded PSU.. some of the good brand power supplies in india comes from Corsair, Antec and seasonic. Bad power supplies could cause a lot of damage including burned components, data loss etc.

You can buy Antec 350. it is a very decent PSU under 2k budget.
