I have availed the facility of Handset Protection under Airtel Secure on 09/12/2017.

On 09/04/2018 my handset accidentally fell on the ground after slipping from the hand and a minor crack got developed on upper left side of the screen. I applied for claim on the very same day and uploaded the requisite documents through My Airtel application. I was allotted Service Request No #206298. In response to it some clarification was sought and the same was provided within the prescribed time limit. The Service Request for the same was 3066643. To my utter surprise the same request was closed on 13/04/2018 and i received a call and i was made to understand that the cause of the damage is not covered under the scheme hence the claim stands rejected.

I once again applied for the claim on 14/04/2018 and the Service Request provided to me was #207799.However, on 15/04/2018 i received a message vide Service Request #3083379 that the request for device claim has been closed since i am reclaiming the same damages for which claim has been already rejected and i also receive a call on this behalf.

I am surprised and confused as well. Since i was on a call and my elbow got hit with the door and handset suddenly slipped from my hand and fell on the ground, isn’t it an accidental cause. In my opinion slipping of mobile from the hand without any deliberate attempt is absolutely an accidental one. Once the handset fell on the ground a crack on the left side of the screen got developed, but the device including touch screen etc is working normally. However, Airtel is not entertaining my claim. See if you can not provide the requisite service then there is no need to come out with such fake policies.

Thanks for mentioning your experience. I myself thought about opting for this for my Pixel, but always thought hey it’s Airtel, so resisted myself.

No sane person drops his/her phone anyway, jeez! It’s accidental like 99.9% of the time. Report this experience of yours on Twitter, Facebook etc., more people need to know about this.
