Will wait and watch till there are some long term reviews. I am in no hurry.
Though I guess being Amazon, they will have quality product.

Shocked by this product launch by amazon even though this was going to happen sooner or later after having overs, ACs, microwaves, washing machines under their brand. And good to see they have integrated fire stick functionality into it.

I am confused which tv to go for in 55 inch sizes with too many options in market but most disturbing factor to me is durability and after sales service which is practically non existent for most companies other than samsung, lg, sony etc. On top of that hidden drawbacks like software and hardware limitations which have issues with app usage.

on a side note,

Aab AMZ bhi sunega kya har ghar ki, saas bahu ki bate (through alexa flushed rolleyes )? Hath karadi apne laughing

Mr. m@@di kab la raha hai, atm@n1r9har tv to listen to m++n ki b00t of every damn indian? smile to abolish terr0r1zm?

My dilemma as well! I am tempted with all the features that these less-known brands of TV’s offer at almost half the price of known brand ones but also a bit sceptical regarding their long term durability.
The known ones are almost twice the price of these cheap ones and don’t have anything extra to offer apart from their brand name and I am kind of unwilling to pay twice for the brand name.

I have been using LCD /LED TV since 2006. Have used Westinghouse, Samsung and Vu. Life of all the TVs has been almost same irrespective of the brand. Westinghouse TV’s panel got damaged in 6 years, Samsung TV’s T-Con board went bad in 6 years and Vu is working fine since 2014 (touch wood).
Price is great on this TV and the specs too. You won’t depend on all the advertising gimmicks. When you calibrate the TV for best picture quality, you need to typically turn off several picture enhancements. This TV has Dolby Vision, Atmos too. Best bang for the buck in my opinion.

From what I understand, 4K TVs are not so good at upscaling SD content so won’t really know how good the TV is till some reviews come out, the great specs on paper notwithstanding

Deal Cadet Deal Cadet

I concur. Our main Sony KD-55X is very good for 1080p content and some 4K YouTube content but SD content looks like, for want of a better analogy, downright poster colour painted picture! It doesn’t look good.

Someone who has never seen a Full HD content or higher on a big screen before may not notice but an experienced eye can quickly see degraded picture quality in SD.

So now when we thought of having a secondary TV in the bedroom, we’ve decided to get a Full HD LED only and as it will also be for occasional use (kid’s content), I don’t want to spend a lot of money. These days cheaper sets also come with full bells and whistles.

I was eyeing an Iffalcon 43 inch and yesterday they increased the price to 25499/- from 19999/- within a day! Now Iffalcon 43inch 4K TV is cheaper than its Full HD one.

These are Unofficial Skyworth TVs (aka Metz,Coocaa TVs)
Radiant Appliances Hyderabad assembly unit is also owned by Skyworth (Partially*)..
The best part is obviously the OS (FireTV based on Android* + Alexa integration) but w/ mediocre internals (CPU+GPU), FireTV Stick 4k will be atleast 2x/3x faster than the CPU/GPU on these TVs’

Few other good things about the tv
Dolby Vision (Expect max HDR brightness to be ~500) + Dolby Atmos
USB 3.0 port
Dolby Digital (ac3), Dolby Digital + (eac3) and Dolby Atmos (.thd+atmos) audio format support for passthrough

Ok pricing @ 30/35k
Probably the closest competition would be recently launched HiSense/Toshiba TVs with DV Atmos

Better to buy a monitor rather than a TV, which have a lot more parts to break.. You can connect anything to the monitor. And the screen quality will be better.. Just get the addon options like android TV and DTH box etc for functionality. Upgrandes even for premium priced ones will stop after a year or two.. At that point, get a new device.. firetv with 1.5gb ram is on the low side even if it seems to work with the few apps.. Why such low memory? At least if its the stick you cna get a new one with upgraded functions.

an avg indian with limited knowledge about led tv.would never care about picture quality , he cares about all the gimicks (mostly software) that are marketed by the mfg.

Even the so called tv reviewers in india are more or less spec sheet readers. mfg generally pay these reviewers for good reviews about their tv . Indian market has been flooded with lot of junk tv by chinese companies.even Samsung started making worst tv panels from 2020. All their so called Q60 , Q70 qled 2020 series are worse than previous year Q60 Q70 with exception being the frame TV.

Foremost thing you need to see when you buy a new TV is picture quality index. After all display cannot be replaced in TV. sound can be extended with sound bar. Smart features can be extended with TV stick. Even the so called mediocre reviewers like techiebeez and VM doesn’t let you know about PQI. Their reviews are mostly good for international edition tv as they mostly refer RTINGS or international sites to review a TV. no one even knows how to measure the nits or have any devices to calibrate colors in LED TV. Due to this sole reason most mfg mostly chinese companies like TCL MI doesn’t launch their flagship tv in india. TCL has great tv in US UK and chinese market , MI flagship is selling only in China. They treat india as dumping ground for their unsold tv which are failure in their market. Recently MI launched a QLED TV with just 350 nits brightness who needs a QLED tv with such a low brightness which doesn’t even justify the HDR videos. If you people are serious about buying a great tv

Either look for forums like hi-fi vision or avsforums or subscribe to channels like HDTV Test in youtube.
Hi-fi vision has lot of techie guys who knows out and out about led tv..They will suggest you best tv for the budget.

After researching for almost 4 to 5 months . I had come up with best tv in every budget. This list is just for 55 inches..Since I bought 55 recently. My research was mostly based on 55.

Under 40k budget. If you need best PQI..Get Hisense 55 inch .
Under 50k if you need best . Get the Toshiba U7980 ( I strongly suggest this tv as the PQI of this tv is almost equal to a Q70 series Samsung QLED tv). This tv is the most valued tv of the year 2020 . It’s indeed mfg by hi sense and it’s also a remodified version hi sense h8f model that was sold in US with android OS. H8F got rave reviews by top reviewers internationally. Toshiba is just the same piece of hardware with Linux OS vidaa.

From 50 to 70k. Budget. Get the panasonic gx800d . This tv has IPS LCD for wide viewing angles and has above average local dimming with 500 nits brightness. Best part of the tv is it’s natural colors. The color are tuned by hollywood professional. So that you don’t need to keep fiddling into the picture settings.

If you have 70 to 90k budget

Get the Samsung frame tv in flipkart for 74k including all discounts .
Or SONY x8500g . Both these tv has decent PQI. they have around 500 nits brightness. Although I would lean to samsung frame for its no gap wall mount and adds elegance to the hall.

If you have budget above 90k. Blindly go for LG B9 or C9 OLED tv. Kindly avoid CX or BX oled. They are downgrade of C9 B9 models.
There is nothing that comes closer to their PQI in that price segment.

If you want best of the best and not worried about the price..Just get the panasonic GZ2000 or HZ2000.or GZ1000 OR GZ950 OLED series. As panasonic is known for tuning it’s tv to almost natural colors.

Thanks a ton @premindia87 for the detailed write-up. I am looking for a 55 inch < 50k. I can’t find U7980 available anywhere in my location. What do you think about Hisense Tornado series ?

Deal Cadet Deal Cadet
Link Copied

Since the price of hisense A71f tv has increased. You may choose hisense tornado as it doesn’t have much difference in picture quality. All.you get is 102w speakers extra. Which may eliminate the need for getting a separate sound bar. But it all depends whether you are audiophile or not.
If you are audiophile. I would suggest you to wait for republic day deals and buy A71F for 35 to 36k after all discount and invest 6 to 8k separately for a better sound bar. Although I’m not sure how great the inbuilt sound bar in tornado will be . But I will always prefer soundbar with external subwoofer for better sound.

Reg U7980 ,Check the nearest reliance digital or its website. As you people know u7980 can go at 700 nits brightness in 25 percent of its display and 550 nits in 50 percent of its display and 250 nits in 100 percent of its display. Which can’t be achieved by any of the budget brands currently available in the market. This easily competes with sony led tv that are priced between 60k to 1 lakh.
I have seen the stock is available in hyd. You can call hyd reliance digital stores and try requesting them to ship to your place.
