One great alternative is to buy Gold Coins via Tanishq as that is not excluded in the 23 Points Spend (Screenshot attached)

It means you can earn 23,000 points on purchase of 1 Lakh of Gold Coins.

Gold coins @ Flipkart excluded?
EDIT: Of course they are.

I was considering buying gold coins from Tanishq.
There are two red flags:
1. AmEx would use MCC filtering to weed out ineligible categories. Since almost all "gold coin" transactions are excluded, online gold coin purchases from Tanishq may be automatically excluded. Offline purchases may be somewhat a different story. You may have to put up a fight later on, to claim the offer, in case your online transactions are auto-excluded.

2. Tanishq charges absurd amounts for gold coins, in the name of "making charge". They are 10% above the MRP posted by any other brands.

Thus, letting this offer go. Tanishq coins are particularly looking too risky and unrewarding.
