I3 8th Gen base clock is 1.6GHz but its max clock is 2.7GHz which is faster than the I3 7th gens clock of 2.2GHZ AND 2 core,, This Pentium is 4 core as well like the I5 as max clock of 2.6GHz.. Only cache and gfx are below par compared to I5 but for most things its the same CPU..

Bought one similar laptop from ASUS having the pentium processor N5000 variant for Rs.13,500 from Flipkart during BB days.
Laptop has original Win 10 and MS Ofice preloaded.
Processor is quite fast and can handle everything except possibly latest games.
Looks like ASUS is crashing prices.
But build quality is less than desirable, so don’t know how long it will last.

Is it worth to get additional warranty of 2/3 years for 499/1499?

Dont know if its single RAM slot but look at the bottom and see if there is a cover with 2 screws and remove it and look. It should either be a single slotted RAM or it could be soldered onto the mother board and another free RAM slot should be there.

There is only a single SATA port and other is an M2 slot for an SSD. You can either replace the HD with an SSD or add in an M2 SSD. But for the 7th gen the M2 slot is on the other side of t he motherboard so you have to take it out to install it. while on some others the M2 is next to the HD and you only have to remove the back cover which makes adding memory and M2 a lot easier. The N5000 is 8th gen so it should have 2 RAM slots and an M2 at least. Even onmy much older Asus 3rd gen laptop there is a single RAM slot so I would need to get an 8GB ram module to replace the 4GB in it.

My grocery and laptop bag order got cancelled.
Today when i tried again it says promotion abuse, coupon got applied, but does not go further for payment. Any one faced this?
Ive added 3 products of 1qty each, total 611 rs or so.

Earlier it was 12 products totalking 1200. Which got cancelled.

Got the laptop. Replaced harddisk with a cheap ssd from Adata. The laptop is very fast and responsive. Suggest removing all antivirus.
The screen is not FHD but its decent for the price. I would reccomend a monitor or tv attached to the hdmi for content viewing. Even the x507 i3 laptops are bad for content and they have a fhd screen. Just the blacks are just grey on this. lol. But for work or light usage this is gold.

The battery runs around 3-5hrs depending on how hard you stress it. Extremely happy with the batterylife.
A laptop at 14.5k With original windows and power as much as an i3 is a steal.

Replacing the harddisk is a bit of a pain as it opens from the top and has stickers on the harddisk screw that shows you opened it. Other than that its fine. The battery is actual cells (like 3 fat aaa batterys), so Im assuming any local guy can replace them later if they go bad. Perhaps with a high density, high quality battery for more batterylife.

This has a single ram slot as per internet but I wasnt able to verify. The ssd will even the edges around the low ram incase windows uses the ssd for page file. So it should be good.

I didnt check for an m2 slot as that would have required to remove the mother board etc too and since these are office machines I dont care much. but I fully expect to find one. If someone is more inclined then me, please do let us know.

The build quality is not great in general, but its very good for this price. Its a solid laptop that also looks very sexy. For the price its a steal and will absolutely beat any laptop you find in the offline market up to 27k. Also I have to tell you, this is better than the sad hp and dell pentium models that goes on sale. In that it doesnt look dull and cheap. It feels premium.

Suggestion – If you are a pro user, add ssd (faster the better. I added 120gb but 250 will definitely be much better), remove antivirus and disable defender permanently. Things will fly.
1) Adobe apps (other than video editing) work fine.
2) 5-10 tabs in chrome work smooth. (more will just slow it down a little but will work)
3) Zero issues with office apps (no office license)
4) Battery is good, will get better on ssd

I am considering doing a fresh install of windows since asus has a lot of app junk installed. A lot of services run in the background even after removing third party junk. Dont need some of the trusted platform stuff either but its installed by default. Removing this might make laptop 10-30% faster. Again if someone does it, let me know. I just dont have time after wasting a few days on this.
