Your comment reminded me a story(memory)
My english teacher and our class.
Many of us are very popular in forgetting (or intentionally) not learning the lesson (Q & A).
we used to run away from english being hindi medium students.
My english teacher was very calm and polite although he was very strict about homeworks too. He used to give to learn some Q&A everyday. And many times the whole class(girls + boys) forget it or (intentionally) don't learn it.
His punishment was very simple for some non-learners (just two hit of a 30cm wooden scale on palm).
Me and My two Seatmates are the only students who always comes with their answers learnt. It was very very Proud feeling when all boys was standing up and getting punishment except We Three, in front of girls. At the same time Once/two times the feeling was exact opposite when I really forgot to learn my homework. It was a bigger insult than the proud feeling earlier.
