2690 is an offline price and 2249 is an online price.

Due to content piracy laws, the recorded content is stored in an encrypted file and can be played only on the same STB.

- DISHTV CUSTOMER CARE/SUPPORT (Phone/email/on-site) SUCKS… BIGGGGG TIME
- Pure holy crap bunch of almost all super-duper-morons
- I do not have personal experience with tatasky/airtel/sun/etc
- Would not advise buying any brand’s DTH just for cheap introductory price (to lure/grab customers). You are signing up for something long term.
- Dish connection ain’t cheap as per other major alternative like cable connection. It has got a relatively high start up cost/investment which you can’t do every 2 months or so. See/get info about their phone/email/on-site support from other subscribers (the subscribers who have has REAL experience dealing with DTH operator support (not those who pay once a year & never change plans & check out various features/schemes)and then buy)
- DISHTV was the first operator to start DTH & i “may” be the oldest subscriber out here on desidime who got a connection of theirs since then..some 7-8 years ago.. The cost that time for a F**king zenega SD STB & installation was some 7k+ (they sell it now for some 800; I came to know from reliable sources that they get these SD zenega and kaon STB’s for some 250-350 gandhi-bucks)
- The above is highly important given the fact that they don’t even care about their so old loyal customers, for providing basic support.
- Given the fact that i have 2 connections with them…makes it more important bcoz i have Really tested their support and got fed up with their services.
- BELIEVE me, they were the first to grab this whole chunk of DTH lovers and still got largest subscribers but they have never improved other than upgrading their website 1ce in last 8years.
- Their automated phone bot used to call my cellphone 10-15 times a day for new features (my foot) and upgrades even after registering for DND and before. (this stopped after a legal notice).Imagine
- Crap compressed SD picture quality (mostly upscaled content in HD)
- Slow/lousy software (irritating functions and logos)
- PATHETIC Email support(i have some 200 odd emails as proof) / Super pathetic phone support (have some call records too glorifying their cheapo’ness)
- Horrible on-site support charges (after warranty period). Just ask them what it costs for their non-pro technician to visit after warranty period is over (just visit and checking the issue and not resolving)
- Highly buggy crap website (never seen so many errors and bugs in any other service website..not even on BSNL’s)
- Will charge you extra for downgrading channel packs (are we in some banana republic? )
- Have lock in periods for some ala-carte packages (meaning once you subscribed, you can’t unsubscribe to that for a minimum period (in mths)..say 3 mths for sports pack)
- Those buying HD STB’s have to take a the full channel pack only (the costliest, on the top package). You can’t downgrade either later (AFAIK this term is still there in TOS)
- Services upgrade…but they degraded their payment gateway from CCavenue to Rechargeitnow. the latter takes 7-10 minutes to redirect back to website while making payment (when even beta startup websites take 3-10 seconds to process a cc/banking transaction). Super-Super-PATHETIC !
- They are just good at one thing….rolling in stars and making new child’ish ads and more advertising. That’s it !

- Cut the advertise/quantity crap..always see the quality FIRST, before buying

P.S. i am in process to shiftover and test some other DTH operator (based on whatever feedbacks i receive (online/offline), being mugged up for some 5 years or so out of total duration i was with them. Won’t advise any though as of now.

I have said about that in my last line of above post. If i am not currently clear about who is the “andho main kana raja” i can’t misadvise others.
AFAIK all have their own issues… I have “HEARD” about
- Airtel sucks in costs (and may be HD quality).
- Tatasky has limited channels (thanks to fully filled TP bandwidth of their satellite)
- Videocon got crap pixelated picture quality on SD (don’t know about hd, if its there)

There are many more things, i am still researching.
I will go with normal (than jaw dropping..which probably none has) picture & sound quality with at least normal /good service/support than going for “get this free”/“sharukh/aamir khan/asin advertises this”/“lelo banana ho jao jingala la” / etc and stuff !

Support/service is always up on my list for anything i purchase which is either time service based or known to need service/support.
Ofcourse things like FOMC don’t need support/service than a service having time-based-tariff !

@DealSaint… do u remember reliance used to sell LG rd360 or some model @10000 bucks which they get @800 rs….. that’s marketing policy. My friend bought 12 feet dish antenna for 1 lac when it arrived at india and now its not coating more than 1000. it might be case with you. but i can say dish tv packages are super and cost effective.

- Firstly, As i said in the first line of my post..its IMO (In my opinion). You as posted, have your own.
- Secondly, Decrease in price happens to almost all electronics/electronic-related products . Its a industry rule (given the technology improvement and cutting-edge competition). The point is to loot customers based on the fact they bailed out DTH the first time.
- Thirdly, Mine purpose is to inform all readers of my experience. Those who will believe me will at least think . Those who consider your advise worth it..will take the same.

People should read review before buying products like DTH. I have read reviews how Dish claims to have upscaled channels as HD channels when I was thinking to change my DTH provider. I have been using Tata sky from 4 years now. Used Tata sky plus for 2 and 1/2 years and recently upgraded to Tata sky plus HD when they were selling it for half price. I would say Tata sky is a costly but very good service and quality DTH provider. There service is very good and recently they started providing VOD services also.

I used it for around 1 years .. now i am using Tata Sky HD.. Which i feel is way better.

The quality of Non HD channels in Dish TV was very bad, but the same Non HD channel in Tatasky is quite good for a 40" TV.

We can use Pen drive but still expensive because you cant get more than 32 GB drive now and the content recorded with STB maybe around 4-5 GB per hour or more depend on codec and format. So you cant record more than 6 hrs and you will have to watch it on daily basis to empty the Pendrive as it cant hold more data.
