Have a doubt, i know i can connect my mobile/laptop to this portable device to access internet….but how do i avail voice call? Does my Mobile connect to this hotspot device thru JioJoin and then the voice call becomes free?
Yes. It’s volte calling. Data will be used
U can connect upto 31 devices, model is M2
What about preview offer with lyf handsets?
It was clearly written on Flipkart website that 90 days unlimited will be given.
(Although I have given up all hopes on jio)
Speeds have become slow. Its not 4g. Its just 2.5 g.
Whoever is buying lyf sets, they are screwed.
4g means generally 20 to 100 mbps
While they ate giving 2-5 mbps:-o
I have a doubt.
We are 3 people living in an apartment with each having an android smartphone. None of the phones support 4G. I know we all can connect simultaneously for internet connection.
What about calling? I can see that one person can use JioJoin app. Can we all 3 guys use JioJoin App in our phones, connect to same JioFi device and make free calls?

Today, in Chennai, one of my friend bought the device at the new price only (₹1999/- from Mount Road Reliance Digital)

A big NO
Only one device can be connected to the device with Jio join App. If you tried to pair another device, previous device would be disconnected automatically.
@SmallKing wrote:What do u expect, 10-15 devices making free calls also, be happy with free download, plus free calling for one device

how to force a phone to use a specific band?
@dushie wrote:
Would have bought the same but as you can’t control the band that it would latch on to, makes it a bad choice. With my phone at least i can force it to connect to 2300Mhz band to get max available speed in most areas.
For mediatek chipsets there is a code by which you can force it to connect to the band you want. For snapdragon i am not aware of any such options. One of the reasons i bought flame 2 because its a mediatek chipset and i can switch bands.
For those who are using Flame 2:
1.Dial * # * # 3646633 # * # *
2.Select BandMode
3.Select SIM1
4.Uncheck Band 3 and Band 5 and SET
5.Check the speed
how to do it for wind 4?

By the way in this case – I was asking so that I can compare my current phone bill so as to make an informed decision regarding the purchase of a JioFi Device. It has got nothing to do with my expectations. Cheers!
One of the sales agent is telling wifi range is only 10 ft. Can any one confirm who is using this?
what will the approx data spent for minute in 4g . voice call
Can anyone tell the range of this JioFi hotspot
@rajivanoj219 wrote:

No need to worry as voice calls are free and data is not charged for voice consumption, but only for apps and browsing, downloading and streaming.
I did some search and came up with below.
So, doing the math on a 15-minute phone call will give you a peak usage of 6kB/sec, 360kB/min, and 5.4MB/15min (1MB=1000kB). That’s absolute peak. All other usage not withstanding, that’s [very] roughly at least 92.5 hours or 5,550 minutes of talking on your 2GB plan.

i am worried, if they deduct voice calls from data

Range is sufficient for a 3 BHK appartment.
1 signal drop after 10 feet.

Very fair..
I suggest to all , dont just blindly disconnect all your cable BB services of a good provider ( u could also see price cut in these soon) , this is a tiny instrument, if u can borrow from your friend, check the performance at your actual location ( inside your house) and see the signal quality, speed then decide accordingly. Yes this has a big advantage of mobility, i mean you can carry BB alongwith your laptop within city coverage area.
I have decided to park my BSNL connection in safe custody ( mean no active services only registered connection installed) and pay the monthly fee of Rs50/-+Tax(Rs7) on trial basis for 2-3 months and then decide after verifying the performance.
other operators coming out with detailed breakup ! trying hard to prove jio is not as cheap as announced!

read the 1st point below the listed plans on jio
1. Voice is truly free – no charge towards voice or the data used to make 4G voice calls.
But the strategy is awesome, they have positioned it differently, there 28 days plans start from 150 rs only which on an average other player earns from a user. so in no terms it is cheap, it is same as other network but they have positioned is as free free and free, Indian mentality is to grab everything free. nobody think about it the price they are paying is same or even more on some cases. don’t believe me,See for yourself, how many offer run on in the retail industry, buy 1 get 1 free, buy 2 get 1 free and so on. the famous koutons 50%+50% discount. but everybody inflates the price and give discount.
so make informed decision.

it is weak if you go to different room but workable. it does not have any dedicated antenna so don’t think of it as a conventional wifi router.

Can we set up an additional router alongwith this ( in case we have spare available) for range increase etc. Any technical expert or user pl pl suggest

Easily. Your router just needs to support bridge access point mode.

you can think of buying a wifi repeater or a custom firmware may be available from DDWRT for your existing router for this purpose.. but before making any further purchase wait and watch for their plans in 2017 as well as speed you are getting.
