Just thought if uv filter might be useful..the river water receives adequate exposure to sunlight(UV rays) before it’s stored in municipal water tank then supplied to public. But in my area we get bore well water though.. Kent grand & pearl models (which r top selling but also has most negative reviews) have UV filter in them.

having ro is good enough. But having everything is a safety measure. And we even boil the water later just for peace of mind. It’s an overkill. But we still do.
Generally flipkart does not take return for filter. Only exchange in case of faulty piece.

bro, u received exactly what u ordered. well nowdays its common to have uv but it depends on the water u get. so chk it whether u really req uv or not.

He must have mistook UF with UV. That’s how these companies play with words/acronyms.

Both are different things
It has written UF, unfortunately u r seeing that now.. UF works with muddy water, but UV requires clean water.. UF kills bacteria and remove dead bodies.. UV only kills them.

Change filters yourself, and save on AMC (Freaking Day light robbery). UV is somewhat pointless. Also even after all this filtration, some viruses still seep through. Last stage is good old fashioned boil water, if you want to be absolutely sure. I like to live dangerously

I would love to assemble one myself. This is so low tech.
But the question is, where do you buy the filters? Are there shops/dealers that sell only the filters that too to normal consumers and that too at retail quantities? Are all of them the standard size? Who are those main three distributors you had mentioned?
I had once roamed around to purchase an AC bracket/stand. These are the comments I got from the shopkeepers/dealers
1. Are you an installer? We sell only to installers.
2. We only sell at wholesale quantities.
If you are doing it yourself to save money, it’s not worth it. Just buy AMC. If you are doing for the love of it, great, experiment it.
In bangalore, for kent ace, they take 6000 AMC.
It has 4 filters. 2500+500+500+500.
If motor/pressure pump goes bad, it cost 2500.
Small tube kind of item for which they charge another 200. And visiting charge on top of it.
Off course kent is overcharging for it. But it’s same as a razor business. You won’t get original outside.
For me 6000 a year for good water is worth it.
One thing you can save on is a pre filter membrane. They charge 500 for it. Its not in AMC. Buy a different company product from outside at 50 to 75.

Also, treat EBAY / Shop clues like a local market. You will get it at better rates than local market rates.
