wtf, 2TB 😣
I opened when it was posted but ignored as I thought 1tb is anyways 11k only
Note that T7 has a design flaw of overheating because internally the disk is NVMe, not SATA whereas T5 was SATA.
That's not a design flaw, you can't go above 500-550 MBps on SATA, NVMe is the only way besides NVMe is a more modern protocol & objectively better. Some of the replies here continue to be 😄
LOL way to misunderstand 🤦🏻♂️ I never said NVMe is worse than SATA or that is the flaw. The issue is NAND flash needs proper cooling when operating at high speeds. The overheating occurs because NVMe is capable of huge speeds and there is no proper ventilation for this external SSD, nor a heatsink. With PCI Express gen 4, even internal SSDs not enclosed in any compact case need a heatsink. OK go ahead and buy T7.😄😄🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
NVMe drives when connected via USB protocol will not give the full speed as internal NVMe. You will reach maximum 800-900 MB/s assuming the NAND flash isn't throttling due to heat and the port is USB 3.x Gen 2 port.

Samsung outfits the T7 Touch with what seems like a 45GB write cache at the 1TB capacity. After writing to the drive continuously at about 930 MBps, it was able to write another 45GB after just 30 seconds idle time. So under average use, it should suffice. But, for those who manage large files daily, the T7 Touch isn’t the best candidate for the job. After the write cache fills, write speeds degrade to about 500-600MBps.
Temperatures weren’t an issue for the T7 Touch either. Samsung rates it to stay below 45C at room temp. When transferring over five hundred gigabytes of data to and from the SSD, its surface temperature managed to stay under 44C with no airflow.
Also, I could not get 1250 off on SBI credit card. Only debit card discount was working. (750 off)
