Most of the discounts now you get jipped! They tell you one rate and when you get out the rate is double and triple what was said when you ordered it. Their excuse is well there was too much demand or driver took a different route or one of a dozen excuses. Not really worth it now. From taking them every day its now once every two weeks or less. Taking the taxi from the stand is better where at least you know they will charge you the min rate and the rest depending on the distance.

Oh yea.. If you are paying with paytm, they will refuse to come and you will have a hard time getting a driver! Change it to cash and there are 5 drivers available.. Whats up with that?

It seems drivers in Assam don’t accept digital modes of payment, be it paytm or cards. Of course there are exceptions. I got busy talking to one of the drivers on their reluctance to accept paytm. Well, it seems, Uber deducts INR 26 for every 100 the drivers earn from the passengers. In digital modes, this amount is deducted first and the balance handed over to the drivers. In cash mode, the drivers do not deposit the 26 at all. They keep their accounts empty. When the due amount reached 15-20 k, Uber pressurises the drivers to pay up. They threaten to leave. Finally they settle for 3-4 k payment, and the rest is written off. The cycle is repeated. From the point of view of drivers, they do not make ends meet if they don’t resort to this kind of trickery. The moral problem here is, who’s cheating whom? Uber ripping off drivers? Or drivers cheating Uber?
