This is a planted news. The person deliberately is hiding and twisting facts and giving half truths.

This needs to be linked with the Supreme Court Judgement of Nov 2022 regarding EPS-95 where SC directed EPFO to give option for pension on full salary instead of ceiling salary of Rs.15000. SC also advised the EPFO to work out the modalities for implementing the judgement. If the judgement is implemented directly, EPFO would be required to pay out about 15-20% return as pension, which is practically impossible. So, they are working out the various mechanisms.

In some cases, people who have been drawing higher pensions became ineligible as per SC judgement. Naturally, their pension would have to be stopped till such time the excess payment given to them earlier is adjusted.

The revision of pensionable age is also long overdue. When EPS-95 was introduced in 1996, the normal retirement age was 58. Subsequently, the Govt and most PSUs changed the age to 60. But for EPS-95, the age remained 58. This inconsistency needs to be rectified. Anyone recruited after Sept 2014 is not member of EPS-95. 

Also, only a small part of corpus can be invested by EPFO in equity rest has to be invested in debt. And it is stupidity to sell shares when they are low.
