Aren't these "neo-banks" just a wrapper on existing banks/nbfc ? All they are doing is just making a complete digital interface to the existing savings account of various banks. But at the end of the day, the actual money resides with the main partnered scheduled banks only

New bank: Mool.one - Waitlist open. Website design and literature make an impression, but otherwise another run-of-the-mill venture. VC funded and hiring. Updates on existing ones: Finin has been closed off for more than a month now. They say they'll reopen near the end of this month. I discovered Mool in their Google Play reviews. I get the feeling like most of these neobanks were conceptualized separately inside a pandemic year and they could not see the market saturating this fast in this manner. Meanwhile, Jupiter.money, which also owns the Bullet UPI app, has started testing the main banking app with limited users. Mavrik seems to have pivoted entirely into some sort of crypto venture. Niyo is ticking along nicely with an active community. I got my June rewards for spending/investing immediately after the offer period, which was nice. Fi.money is testing their Android app in Early Access. Difficult to get in but offering looks mature. InstantPay messed up my KYC. The app can't validate certain PAN sequences. Now you have to upload documents by signing and scanning a piece of paper. Pass. Chillpay UPI is now Freo.pay. They have reopened Scan-and-Pay but you have to take pictures of your Aadhaar for access.

One more – not yet launched: https://neo-ban...m/

Niyo team seems to be off the ground and further along than most with lucrative incentives. Biometric KYC was painless and free card issuance is cool.

Fi-money looks slick but is the most selective, requiring intrusive work/salary info and even checking your PF contributions.

Instantpay offers 1% unlimited cashback on their debit card and API integrations – a complex product. Physical card for individuals costs Rs. 365/year. Pay Later product coming soon. More of a RazorpayX competitor.

Fold.money’s mission statements look promising and I have a good feeling about them + they’ll move you to the front of the queue for the Fold card if you’ll talk about your finances & spending, for 15 minutes on the phone.

Finin has stopped taking new users at the moment.

Jupiter’s Firstlist is a glorified referral program. Their vision looks very ordinary for the segment.

Mavrik announces lofty ambitions when you land on the site. But other wise their site and features read like fluff with no USP.

Some more. Of course, most of these will shut down, pivot or get acquired in a couple years and at worst, you will be stuck with MAB requirements, card fees and other things:

Freo.money – Waitlist open. 7% interest. Zero balance account. Zero fees card with auto-EMI on all spends. From the makers of MoneyTap and Chillpay.

Aeldra – Get a U.S. bank account using your Passport or SSN

Savein.money – Coming soon. Savings account with leading interest rates and instant issuance of physical card

Muvin.in – Not yet launched. Youth focused neobank.

@justblaze Suggest me one to replace my DBS account, since they have started to charge mab
Should have <3.25 interest rate and ltf debit card

Already opened niyox, but they will charge debit card fees after a year

@kipte.khoka Finin has 3.5%-5% interest rate (State Bank of Mauritius) and LTF debit card. But it has stopped new signups for 3 months now. Might be getting acquired or shutting down.

Jupiter has 2.5% interest and LTF debit card. But not all PIN codes are covered, unlike Niyo.

Mool.one might launch in a month or two. They sent me an email with screenshots of app in development. They have also partnered with State Bank of Mauritius, so their interest rate might also be 3.5%-5%. They promise no account fees.

NiyoX has annouced that it has opened 500,000 Equitas bank accounts within 150 days of launch

Jupiter has received $45 Million in further funding. Looks like it’ll end up as a Top 3 neobanking player and here to stay

https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/business/star...

PostPe is a new Buy Now, Pay Later product from the makers of BharatPe, which will be taking over PMC Bank. MasterCard “prepaid” card available with pre-approved credit limit. Full launch in September. Neobanking might be in the pipeline.

Interview with their co-founder with more details:

Bonus: Uni Card by Uni Pay (not a neobank) is operational with a beta product. All purchases can be split into 3 interest-free EMIs, following the 30-day credit period, with 1% cashback if you choose to re-pay in full. UPI Scan & Pay in the pipeline. No joining fee during Beta phase. Funding from Lightspeed and Accel.

Why people are interested in these neo banks with no physical branches. I opened fi money account 2 days ago only to find out they didn’t assign me to the nearest federal bank to my home. Also no option for cash deposit and cash withdrawal using withdrawal form. There is no netbanking facility only mobile app allowed no desktop version.

Update on Fi.money app: After getting my card I tried to use the card on international websites to take advantage of zero forex rate. Surpisingly every international transaction other than Paypal gets declined even Google Play transaction won’t go through. This app is a fucking scam they advertise zero forex rate but they don’t allow to purchase from international websites. Please don’t open this account for zero forex rate. you will get fooled.

Yes, Fi Money debit card has 10% discount on flipkart if you have the equivalent amount of supercoins.

This offer is going on since the last 2 months. I’m using it even on grocery orders. No minimum order amount needed.

PM for referral.
