airtel internet is becoming very poor.

Airtel internet is becoming very very poor day by day.. on 4g m getting speed in kbps.
Though speed test and fast shows speed in kbps ,the page doesn’t open up…that means it is giving even more less speed than the test shows.

Are you guys also facing such issue with your operator?

All are same in one area or other .

Somewhere jio is good somwhere airtel , so claiming one good and other bad in this terms is not perfectly possible.

Airtel has been poor indoors for the last several months in my locality. Unlike earlier I can’t get good speeds in any location in my house like next to a window which enjoys line of sight coverage to the nearest tower. Ironically 4G+ is much slower than plain vanilla 4G. So with root I disable Band 40 ( also B8 and B3) which disables 4G+. Speeds in B8 are much more consistent although still at 3.5G levels for most of the time. Vi indoor coverage is terrific. Despite no 4G+, 50-60Mbps consistently after midnight and 15-30Mpbs at other times even during peak hours which was a concern until early last year. Outdoors Airtel 4G+ is a bit more stable and speeds are pretty good but of no practical value. I have placed several complaints since 2018 but to no avail. Let’s see if after yesterday’s  threat of porting out if anything changes though I am not hopeful at all. Jio is pretty much the same as Airtel. This is one major reason I insist on rooting my devices.

50-60 mbps scream ..
Airtel was good earlier but not in my house and locality,it is getting worse day by day, from giving stable 16-20 mbps to 400-700 kbps…
And the case is just opposite for jio, they used to give in kbps now giving in mbps.

Vi lost it’s reliability a long long time ago.

Airtel is “open to questions” but when asked about enabling main balance usage they develop deafness. Airtel customer service in my experience has gone down from unquestionably the best to at best non-responsive.

Absolutely not unless if you are lucky enough that *567*99# works in your nos. It’s the only pack that can be activated from main balance. You need to have OG active for the above USSD code to work. So extra expenditure…

BTW for the first time in a really long time Airtel credited some freebies in my nos. on the 99 pack. 3GB with 7 days validity in one no., 4GB in another and a whopping 7GB in the last one. But the data benefits were credited towards the end of the Service Validity which reduced their usefulness by a lot. In any case with Vi offering excellent speeds no need to put with 3G speeds from Airtel.

They do keep their promise of bleeding the customer dry in the name of premium services!

Freebies were credited almost a week before sending PORT SMS which was in any case only sent in one no. Could be because of recharging after a long time and/or logging into Airtel app individually. Previously at most 3GB data was provided occasionally.

I haf recharged additional with data pack ,and the reason for not able to use data given by airtel is that my data is 0.

I have 6 gb data and airtel can’t see it.

In Qualcomm devices you can use Network Signal Guru if the network isn’t 4G+. If it is use Cellular Pro which isn’t available in Play Store. Download Cellular Z from Play Store and it will include a link to download the Pro version (free).

Can you share any link which explains the steps in detail of rooting device and disable the bands.

Root is a must.

In case of NSG – click on the 3-dot menu on the top right >Forcing Control>Preferred LTE band and deselect whichever band you desire. Check in which band you are getting the best speeds and disable the others.

Lower frequency bands like B8 (900MHz) used by Airtel and B5 ( 850MHz) by Jio are the best in terms of indoor coverage though that doesn’t prevent Vi providing fantastic coverage over B3 in my locality. B40 (2300MHz) is usually pretty poor in this aspect but the operators seem to prefer higher frequencies because they can deliver much higher speeds although because of poor indoor penetration that is rarely the case. LTE band support is device dependent. Airtel uses a lot of them. Free version of NSG app only allows to manipulate the 1st SIM slot.

Here’s a direct link to Cellular Pro (which is necessary in case of 4G+ networks) https://www.coolapk.com/apk/make.more.r2d2.cell...

You must allow the 3 permissions it asks after 1st launch esp. location. Location must be enabled before launching the app thereafter for it to work. It allows to manipulate both slots individually. 1 or 2 at the top left indicates the SIM slot number. Accordingly click on the Lock tab (2nd tab from the left) uncheck the undesirable bands under the  Lock LTE band tab and then click on the (open) lock icon to apply your changes.

P.S. You shouldn’t run both NSG and Cellular Pro at the same time as it can potentially cause conflicts.
