Why anyone is getting vaccinated everyone knows.

I won’t for myself given my age (33) but the fear they all are putting in my mind I’m now considering to have mum inoculated who is 64 soon. I’m against it because of the simple reason that a vaccine can’t be prepared this fast. It takes innumerable trials and many years for one. But the doctors say it’s better to have something than nothing and preferable over suffering from the virus, alongside maintaining the opinion (more like disclaimer) that we don’t know the long term effect of the vaccine.

I agree. we don’t even know for sure if it is effective

In my area, there is so much chaos and fight for vaccine that people are not getting vaccine that particular day but getting infected with Covid from the vaccine centres and showing symptoms 3-4 days later . So staying home is the safest RN for me.

Critic Critic

Absolutely. I mean if one can isolate themselves and not go out at all then it’s absolutely pointless to go for the vaccine. Those who are financially able are letting their maids and chauffeurs do everything while maintaining themselves within their premises 24×7. That’s more important than the vaccine.

I definitely want to get vaccinated.
But I know I might get vaccine or not but will get covid for sure if I go out to get it.
So will try to speculate the situation for few days or week then only will make plan to get it.
My parents also needs to get their second shot but now I am concerned about that too

If they are taking 2 nd dose they already have some immunity from 1st dose. So there risk will be less even if they get covid.

But you need to be careful as yours is first dose.

Will wait for pfizer, moderna and J&J vaccines to be available in india.

Take Covishield or covaxin now as there is no point in waiting in this fast spreading pandemic.

You can take those shots too after they launched…

There is no harm in taking 2 vaccines in 6 months…

But go far some immunity now by taking any available vaccine.

The whole US has got vaccinated with the Pfizer/Moderna vaccine and everyone is doing well with that. Even schools, theatres, malls have opened fully there with no cases reported. The travel ban is also not there, so not sure if the Indian variant has not reached there yet through some asymptomatic traveller or virus has already reached there but nothing has happened since everyone is vaccinated. I want to get vaccinated with the Pfizer/Moderna vaccine now more than the Indian ones.

United States nearly 40% of the population has now gotten at least one dose of a vaccine not whole, and most of the people are skipping second shots

Skipping for now.. considering the mad rush and other factors
But i would’ve considered getting vaccinated myself if there are elders at home (60+) & those with Co-morbidities (Instead of getting them vaccinated)

No
Because it is voluntary, they are in clinical trials till 2023 and they have got only emergency approval not fully approved
There is a risk of iatrogenic reaction which includes death, they also contain MRC-5
There is no study on long term side effects of such substances, specially MRNA ones, they change the way the body functions
And these things are clearly mentioned in the leaflet provided with the vial

Personally NOPE

First & foremost I do not have much opinion on these first generation vaccines. Any vaccine currently being used is under emergency use authorisation (EUA). I am not saying they are good or maybe bad; it’s just that no one knows the long term effects of the vaccine and the EUA is just the manufacturer & Govt., yelling at our faces that we are not responsible or liable to what may or may not happen when you take this vaccine!

Current vaccines do not stop viruses from entering your body nor can kill them directly. In simple terms what it does is teach our immune system how to identify and fight the SARS virus.. It’s like saying a fight is coming, be ready & when you do actually get infected, it becomes easy to thwart the virus and the person can get away with none to mild symptoms. Technically it’s the immune system that’s core to the whole process & I kinda believe I have a strong immunity(well I could also be wrong & literally get f**ked up when a virus hits me!!). Anyways last time I got officially sick was in 2015 and since then other than having a bit of pre-fever symptoms a couple of times (like sour tongue or chills but never really transitioned into fever), I’d say i did not get sick nor take a tablet in the last 6 years or so. Guess my immunity should fight it out on its own without the help of a vaccine.

Once again I do not hold the above reason viable for aged folk or ppl with any underlying diseases or anyone with substantially low immunity. In these scenarios, its really advisable to take the vaccine and be ready rather than taking the hard route of fighting naturally.

Plus the virus is now mutating in multitude of variants and current vaccines do not hold a barrier to all of them. Atleast there’s a positive note from Covaxin side, which is said to officially neutralise double mutant 617 indian variant. No one knows what Covishield is capable of against these variants while thats the dominant vaccine that’s being administered across the country.

Now coming to the lifespan of these vaccines, Pfizer promised 6 months or more at the moment. not sure about other vaccines. so technically you should be taking a booster shot every year once or twice. that’s one scenario, in the other scenario even if the lifespan of a vaccine is lets say years, you would still end up taking a different version of the vaccine since they need to keep updating the formula to take into account all the mutations.  Oops.

And then there’s the headache of body developing immunity to the virus vectors itself (Covishield, J&J) ; Atleast here mRNA (Pfizer & Moderna) is kinda in the forefront since its kind of like sending a software code (genome) asking the system (cells) to produce spike protein themselves so the body won’t actually develop a immunity against this type of messaging relay vaccine. Those who are leaning to wait for Pfizer/Moderna should also know that its the MOST MOST experimental vaccine out there. they literally have got the vaccine ready the next day of decoding SARS genome since all they need to do is modify, embed & transmit the code & tell our body what it should be doing!!! Now only time will tell what bugs will crop up due to this “hacking the software to life” vaccine (that’s a Moderna quote by the way)

A more robust & potent next generation vaccines are still in development and you can have a glance here (https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2021/...)

Definitely yes; to protect self & others.

I’d also be taking the paid jabs regularly every 8-9 months of different companies.

Was initially against getting but after checking data from various countries, am thinking of taking the jab.

Even though Vaccine is not preventing Corona, it seems to prevent serious hospitalization. Having gone thru mental torture of having mom admitted in hospital in the first wave (though not serious), I dont wanna take the risk and even temporary solution is ok for now. Have been asking my parents to take the jab but they are reluctant. Will go along with them and get it in next month and preferably Pfizer, if it becomes available

Israel vaccination crossed 50% and now it is reporting negligible cases and all restrictions removed..

Now usa nearing 50% vaccination and case load all ready started to low…

But in india we are still debating weather to take vaccine or not..

We deserve the situation which we are in… 😂

Although 18+ appointments are yet not available at place but will get asap when it opens but just going through the comments here, ignorance > safety and then people cry about rising deaths and this wave is more deadly than before. Yes, its not 100% immunising but wuhan virus is pandemic, get vaccinated asap. Latest or 1 gen, you are reducing misery attached to wuhan virus.

None of them, if you’re talking about blood clots, were just because of the vaccine. The people who had severe side effects likely had comorbidities.

I’ll be taking the vaccine because it’s the path forward rather than being stuck in a circle.

My decision is based on prevailing situation in our country & around the world, limited research data, safety of those close to me & my own health.
There are pros & cons of every decision & associated risks. In this case vaccination seems the path forward -hopefully breaking the vicious circle of this pandemic. More the virus spreads higher the chance of mutations.. Vaccination may not end the pandemic soon but it safeguards from severe complications which is beneficial to the individual apart from reducing burden on the medical system as a whole. Future versions of vaccine ‘may’ be more potent in flattening steep curve of infection.

There is risk in everything. CT scan exposes patients to radiation, angiography is an invasive process still people go through them for detecting bigger threats to their health.

Both Indian made vaccine is safe, Pfizer want to push their vaccine to India as India is a potential buyer for them. Most of the article against these vaccine are backed by these pharma company to make their products more promising and ready to stage a platform for sell. Yes, there will be many cases where a person developed blood clotting after vaccination which leads to his/her death but there are multiple reasons behind it.
