Dear All,
I am looking for my first Credit Card and need help, suggestions and healthy discussions pertaining to anything about Credit Cards
Purpose : My primary purpose of getting a Credit Card is improving my CIBIL Score as I intend to buy a house next 3 years down the line.
Some details : Age 23, Salary is frankly good enough to get any Credit Card, Not an impulsive shopper though Phones are my weakness but in recent times I have been able to curb on it .
My typical online usage : All the routine online payments and big ticket online purchases in my household I intend to route it through my account .
Typical Payments: Mobile Bills( Courtesy Jio has reduced drastically ) , Electricity Bills, Internet Bills , Online Grocery Shopping, Restaurants ( Fast Food Joints and Stuff maybe once every week or fortnigh) , BMS maybe once a month and rest Electronics and Apparel Shopping and Vacations/Getaways and sometimes online medicines too ( non-frequent but worth mentioning )
Max to max intend to spend lets say 6k to 8k a month using the card inspite of all the above mentioned purchases and its after keeping a buffer margin . A big shopping like a Phone or some other heavy electronics or a trip may increase my spending in some of the months.
Payments : I am no way intending to improve my current Lifestyle or living standards its only that I want to improve upon my CIBIL Score so all the payments would be made in time/within the due date .
I have been approached by Citi for Premium Platinum Rewards cards and have yet to give them a consent on the same. First year is free and then from next years fees will be waived if spends cross 30k a year . I have also read about the HDFC Diners Club card so confused which one should I opt for keeping in my above shopping needs
I have read almost all the previous threads on this topic and have created a new one as the threads with the most information are atleast an year old . Tagging all the dimers whom I feel are relevant to discussion in the next post .
AXIS Signature Card – It was offered life time free for me and they run some 10% off/cashback offers on flipkart or amazon.. and rewards can be redeemed for some instant rewards online at https://edgerewards.axisba...om
HDFC Regalia Card – HDFC gives many offers and discounts from time to time. They also run spender campaigns and give additional reward points or cashbacks. sometimes they provide 3 months credit card payment waiver for customers who pay total outstanding amount regularly.. They offered me thrice till now and want me to pile up transactions and pay min. balance so that they can gain interest on the remaining balance. I have not given them a chance till now. Planning to upgrade to Diners Platinum now.
SBI Gold and More Card – Annual charge waiver on 75000 purchase. gives offers regularly on flipkart and amazon.. reward points can be redeemed for cashback. 4 points = 1 rupee.
CITI Rewards Card – Best of all.. annual charges waiver on 30000 purchase. provides regular offers.. reward points can be converted to cashback. 1 RP = 0.35 rupees.
SCB Rewards Card – Free for lifetime.. use it for some 10%cb offers on flipkart/amazon/snapdeal..
SCB Manhattan Card – 5% cb on groceries, movies.. max cb of 150 per txn.. reward points can be redeemed for amazon gvs.. annual charges waiver on 60000 purchase.
Yes bank, icici bank also offer some free for lifetime card and i am missing offers due to non-availability of them.. planning to get them after few months..
i do online shopping a lot and use all cashback or discount offers for me, my family and my friends..
I prefer better not to use any credit card, if you have credit card, it will make you to swipe….

hmm.. i was also under the same impression when i started my career in 2007 and stayed away from them till 2010.. but later on i wanted to try with one card and did not face any issue.. so i kept on adding more and feel that if you know how to use it wisely then you will not have to pay a penny for that… i have been using the above cards since 5 years and i have not paid a penny as annual charges for any of the cards.. and i have gained atleast 10000 as cashback using reward points redemption.. and i still have many reward points in some cards… and last not the least would be the discount offers for the cards whenever i am in need…
Yes, exactly, should have proper maturity to use CC.
There many people don’t know how to use and end up swiping more than their capacity and end up paying only minimum due only for safer side. At the end they pay more interest.

yeah.. i agree with it.. i see many people around me using it like anything and paying heavy interest around 36-40% interest on the outstanding amounts.. i used to discuss with them and ask them to pay it off using personal loan or some other source and ask them not to use credit card for all indulgences which they can’t afford with cash. some of them listened to me and changed their way and some of them listened to me and changed their way of talking to me
Axis called me for free lifetime credit card. Credit card will be Axis My wings credit. Will they charge annual fee from next year? Should I go for it?
@PaytmKaPoojari if CIBIL score is the only concern then why don’t you just buy some electronics/ home appliances from your local shop using bajaj finance EMI. some specific brands offers 0% EMI too.
Hi Guys,
This is to update you, with SC Titanium credit card on paytm is no longer giving 5% cashback. I made past 3 transaction with merchant: “Paytm Mobile solution”
None of it received cashback.. received the reward points instead

As per the update i got from SC customer care, we are eligible for 5% cb for telecom in 2 txns (200), fuel in 2txns (200) and bill payment in 1 txn (100) which totals to 500 which is the max cb that we can avail every month. so the extra txns that we do would not be considered for cashback and we will get reward points only.. @ashu99926

hmm yes.. but atleast the rewards points to gift vouchers conversion ratio is good..(3400 points for 1000rs gv) and they give 5 reward points for every 150 spent.. it would have been better if the reward points can be redeemed for cashback though.
Go with SBI SimplyClick Card
1) Min. 5x(upto 10x points with Selected Sites) Rewards Points on 100rs online spend. i.e., 1.25 rs u will get and can be redeemed against outstanding.

Happiness not lasted long
DS as I mentioned to you earlier also, I realized this fact this year only & attempted 5 transactions too once & got all 5 times.
There after I never needed to keep that high (2000*5) balance in Paytm so just tried 1-2 transactions per month. All the times I got it.
Maybe they too realized the fact so restricted.
Still it works 2 times so not bad idea.
@disclaimer Manhattan definitely has lost sheen. There are many cards which offer accelerated points. And if one wants to go no category specific & is high spender then better to go for Amex platinum travel Card (if one prefer indigo) or other Amex cards
Even previous sbi signature Card was too good but they converted it into elite with raising threshold for bonus rewards.
@BUTTERFLYBOY
@Alpha.Barood
Amex card holders have good time this Diwali
They have 1000 offer on spending 20k via ezeclick
If that spend touch 50k then additional 5k tanishq vouchers (max 20k vouchers)
Plus there site specific offers
I am keep on getting call from Indusland bank for credit card.. is there any credit card which is good ?
I would suggest American express gold card they offered me for 1000 for first year and 2250 from next onwards, I am 22 so I think it mainly depends on the company you work for PS I got the offer from the stall they set up in my office

Oh! I just got a letter from them asking me to utilize the balance, if there were any, in my GCs (bought from infibeam long long ago) there before the end of this month. The letter also mentioned that they are about to shut down their GC shop in India.
HDFC CC card is best….using since 2013
Pros::
1. For basic CC no annual charges.
2. Best thing is u can reverse the late charges and finance charges. Till today I have reversed around 4500 rs. I don’t any other bank can reverse this charges constantly.
