well I had created the similar topic few weeks ago . Few dimers complain about it to not to discuss these things publicly because they feel since few banks are giving RP on debit card and if they came to know about cred then they will stop that too. even a dimer said all banks are giving him RP on cred transactions so not to discuss it online. I agree Few Banks are giving RP on debit cards currently not all but anytime they can stop giving that too by noticing the extra large numbers of 1000 cred points scratch card transactions . grinning .

I had deleted that topic after a dimer request.

You will hardly make a buck or two with points at the risk of exposing your debit, credit card no to these companies. Pay via NetBanking and be at peace.

True.

However, just some thoughts added:

Risks is everywhere…from walking on road to standing at the 19th floor.
So yes, we are exposed everywhere (broadly all kinds of known and unknown, common and rare, accidents and diseases), but probabilities (to a reasonable extent) assure us we will see the next day.

Financial risks are everywhere, offline and online (more so here). And we are exposed by definition. Financials being the most important thing practically in life, the max possible level of security is ensured (by banks, regulators, etc). But the best hackers and desperate ppl also tend to look here to attack or exploit.

Card nos are meant to be exposed. That’s how they function. Offline we used to handover cards to other ppl. Online we just put the no in boxes across sites of varying security level and maturity. But it has become like walking and standing on high risk building. We need to be careful, yes, but that’s a basi thing in financial life.

Ppl differ in risk appetite and risk taking ability (aka capital cushion) – and values and comfort. They need to choose accordingly and choices will differ due to diversity. Some people will not take even netbanking ‘transaction access’. They are cintent with view only as that gives them safety. They are highly risk averse. On the other side, some ppl will take 10+ credit cards and share the nos just about everyone and feel safe bcoz they have the device and otp with them. Some others feel safer after disabling international txns due to absence of otp security there.

So net net, in my view, we should understand ourselves better in terms of our financial txns/behavior, requirements, how much we can handle data/loss etc, and take precautions of highest nature with our financial txns (and now mail id and mobile device too), and then just be at peace. we are taking the best precautions possible, we are prepared to take some potential loss (lower chance/worst case) in return for the potential benefits (higher chance/base case), and then feel at peace (at least till we are there and till it is there).

Money is important, more imp than we realize i think-and for a reason… Tc. Never mind. Ymmv. smile

For BOI, if u spend more than 10 K,

u will get 1 rupee for 200 spent on BOI debit card,
in fact we get 500 for one lakh spends on BOI debit card

The above comment is mentioned by considering 1rp=0.25 paise and for 200 Rs spends we get 4 reward points which is equal to 1 rupee
