Bought smart tv on Amazon: Should I open the box/inspect in-front of the delivery agent or wait for the installation person?

Received this message from Amazon:

“Your confirmation code is ******”
Before you submit your confirmation code to the delivery agent, please inspect the item for damage. We cannot accept returns for damage or missing parts after the confirmation code is submitted

So should I
- Open the box & inspect all the parts including accessories in front of the delivery agent. OR
- Wait for the installation person?

Previously, I bought large appliances on Amazon, and always waited for the installation person to open the box.

Delivery person will open the box and let you inspect the item.

Such msg is meant for open box delivery orders.

Open at the time of delivery. Check and confirm if there is any physical damage

It seems like Open Box delivery in Flipkart.
.

Mostly you should be able to check physically issues like scratches, broken issues, parts missing or completely wrong product..etc. Now-a-days, dummy products are coming in the boxes, may be that’s why they have moved to this procedure. If anything goes wrong instant refund would be initiated(check with cc about replacement). If everything is fine, then technician comes and check the product functionality and found the defective product, then it should be refunded (check this thing also with cc). As I don’t experience this case, I couldn’t confirm.

I may not be available at Home at the time of delivery. My mother is not able to identify the missing parts, fine damage.

Can I leave the box as it is without opening and let the installation person be responsible for checking damage/missing parts?

My cousin had ordered Llyod Window AC but he didn’t check properly at time of delivery even though it looked like an opened carton. Later it turned out that the product inside box was some decade old broken Samsung Window AC. He had to go through lot of hassle before amazon issued a refund.

So as far as possible check properly at the time of delivery only if it is allowed.

It’s a safe bet to record a video of unboxing for all items coming home not just high value items.

Hankpanky by sellers office not delivery guys is very common.

Like I did an unboxing video of a saree received. The colour was different. Immediately got refund.

Amazon clearly mentions that they will not be able to accept returns after delivery if something is wrong. So make use of open box delivery. Or you might regret later. Apply a leave and stay at home or tell somebody to take a good look at the product before giving code to the delivery agent.

Time the delivery, request delivery person to come when you are available at home. Tell him no one is at home, and tell at home not to open door for any deliveries. Some delivery agents are known to nod to deliver later, but still turn up at home with the item

No. If u provide the delivery code, then it means you confirm that there is no problem with the product except working issues.
Means no refund/replacement if some physical damage, parts missing, diff product or No product.

Better reschedule the delivery.. I think products having open box delivery will also have scheduled delivery.

I’m sorry for this situation. I think you might have selected Open Box delivery option while ordering, so you can’t change it to normal one. You should accept the order via delivery boy check. You can contact customer care and reschedule it to your availability. If you got for good discount, better try to be there on place. Also you can convince the delivery guy, since the product is large appliance, most of the cases, he might tell that he would cancel it. Try to convince him upto what you can. Hope it will be delivered to you.
