BSNL deposit - how to find out how much deposit do they hold?

These BSNL guys never pay back the deposit after cancelling the service. Even if you give them a letter for refund, they take it and keep it saying it will be processed in next 2-3 months. And nothing happens. They dont even tell the amount, giving various reasons – server down, not able to fetch your records, its in old system etc etc. I am sure we have given them a few thousands because each time you downgrade a service & then upgrade it back, they ask for new deposit (even though there is existing deposit). I remember doing it for the DSL connection long time ago. When we had cancelled the DSL connection, they had said, the desposit is part of the landline account & will be refunded when you cancel the landline. I think it is time to cancel the land line as it is hardly being used (we get 3-4 calls a month & we make hardly 2-3 calls a month).
Does anyone here know of
1. how to find out how much deposit is held at BSNL at present?
2. How to get every penny back without leaving it to the govt?

Paper invoice stopped long time ago. BSNL bill doesn’t show the deposit details. That is why I had to visit their main office (you cannot get details in the service centre/nearest exchange).
I guess I will have to complain and try next for my DSL balance. And then when we cancel thr land line.
I got my deposit after 4 years direct bank transfer
They take time as bsnl has no funds with them
Go to your exchange , look for AOTR who will help you out

we cancelled our landline number 4-5 years ago,went many times to their office.every time they took request letter but no help.then forgot about it. dont even have old bill copies now.refund amount was 4200 something. can we complain now even if we dont have a bill copy?
just complaint in pgportal website.
the manager/higher authority will call you.
ps:- my issue wasn’t deposit. Just prepaid sim related problems not being resolved by local bsnl office workers. Manager called personally and sorted out my issue with respect ☺️

Once cancelled BSNL landline+broadband connection, they said land phone will be picked up first and then refund of deposit will be initiated. No one came for pickup and hence didn’t get any refund., Called them few times to remind & after a while I let it go.
They misguided you.
You need to 1st go and give them disconnection letter , otherwise they continue to bill you.
Now you need to carry the land phone to your head exchange and and get it signed by Dept Manager to receive a NOC
Deposit NOC with cancelled cheque along with disconnection letter to AOTR
They will refund via direct bank transfer .You can ask them which year refund is going on and calculate accordingly
Takes a long long time due to cash crunch but refund def happens
I closed my landline connection in July 2020 and my refund of Rs 3450 is pending. When asking at BSNL CSC, they said I may have to wait for another year to get my refund 😳
exactly , my also pending since 2020 .. they said refund will come and when i enquired again after 3 -4 months they said its adjusted bcoz ur next month bill was pending..
after enquiring third time around more 4-5 Months i was shocked with their reply
“ur broadband was not disconnected so ur bill is pending "

You need to submit landline before requesting the refund.
That’s y, I didn’t take the landline (Had several handset from earlier connection). Submitted request letter for refund with proper acknowledgement. After that, filed a RTI, got refund in 1.5 months.

any way to convert postpaid Landline connection into Prepaid wireless landline
had 1000rs plus deposit and i was told to visit “Main office” which was 30 kms away. never visited. waste 500rs of petrol plus 3-4 hours of my time OMG
I converted my landline to Rs.88 per month incoming only sulabh plan years ago as thought it might come handy in giving as address proof though never needed it. Now I think of it as a small monthly charity to govt. 
I tweeted and got the refund in a matter of weeks from BSNL Karnataka after months of wait and visits to the BSNL office yielded nothing. Regarding how much deposit, it depends on the customer’s billing plan and age of connection in most cases.
1. Look at the bill (paper invoice). It tells the deposit amount
2. Yes they will give full deposit…it just that they take time..pgportal is best to complain
