- is it advisable to get single specs for + and - eye numbers?
- any good brands for lenses and frames?
- are lenses made of glasses and made of plastic type material same in quality?
- please share good specs websites with good customer support

Regularly purchasing from lenscart . experience has been good.

No comes perfect so no issue. All lenses are machine cut so even axis is perfect...

Local shop will shape the glass manually and will have error on axis..

Don't wear specs bro but had purchased 1-time online for dad before but wasn't a good experience.

I think it's stil better to go to store and buy them directly lenskart seems good in this if looking for a brand+store experience rest there are lot of em now.

if you can arrange and its availeble then lenskart home eye test is advisable as the local optician may or may not give you accurate prescription. in mumbai i have heard that they keep secret encryption( like extra one in sperical and less one in cylendrical which they only can decrypt ) in the prescription so that you dont get perfect vision if you make specs from elsewhere.

I visited both online and offline shops inclulding lenskart.
Specs was needed for my mom and the offline local store guy was very good in helping us choose the frame and showed us different types of lens. Suggested that we go for digital bifocal (satin +) since it was under budget and progressive is more reqd. for ppl who work on laptop or desktops more. He also suggested that we go for an acrylic frame which doesn't has explicit nose pads since the regular usage of older specs had left a black mark on both sides of nose.
Felt satisfied and purchased it from there even though I had lenskart gold membership and would have got an aviator for me too under B1G1.

Paa ji.. if you recollect.. few months back.. there was a post or topic of yours.

I think, about some 10-12000Rs. chair or something similar.

.

I am the same person who had comment something about  'hai rasm, itni mehengi chair.. blah blah' on that topic.

.

i remember.. it had upset you a bit.

Maybe you had tagged you usual tikadi (of xxxyyyzzz kartikxxx tappukepapa) and they too coached me down or whatever.

.

Lekin abb.. main phir se ek baat bil raha hu paai.

.

For seniors... we can.. always try to put in the best (efforts).. phir results nikle ya naa nikle.. woh baad ki baat hai.

.

Also, this is NOT an advertisement or promotion of Lawrence and Mayo.

.

But my parents.. since last, i think, 25+ years.. relied on Lawrence and Mayo.. and maybe 2-3 other.. if outside India or went to Vision Optic (in New Bombay) or if Vasan Eye care type place was closer, then Vasan was chosen.

.

.

I may not know much of all these lenscart and other sites.

.

But I know for a fact that a decent frame, decent workmanship and proper post sales service matters a lot.. in such things.

.

Frames mein.. it is all honkydory..

Any and every brand can say.. ours is carbon fiber or this or that.

.

Hence it mainly comes down to trust.

.

Those who trust Lenskart, too are happy in life.

.

And my folks.. who tried metal frames to polymers to these high-fi MontBlanc one's which my mom selected once.. have all been good.

.

The bridge (nose pads or without nose pads) is something some people are fussy about.

At-least my father is.

.

So yes.. whether the sidebar/ डंडी has external screw type assembly, frame material (weight), bridge specifics.. besides any warranty or anything.. are things to watch out for.. in frames.

.

.

For lenses.. Progressive are something that not every user easily gets used to.

.

But progressive kisi bhi tarah se .. less effective nahin hotey.

Bifocals and progressive lemses are both just as effective (technically).

.

Aajkal.. branded mein jaaye.. tou 3-4000 rupees bhi average cost ho jaati hai.. for good specs.

.

.

If you feel up to it.. do have the seniors.. visit the Lawrence and Mayo outlets in or around your town/city.

.

The good thing I found about Lawrence and Mayo.. is that.. chasma Poona se banwaya ho ya New Bombay se ya Bhopal se.. it does not matter.. I ke paas.. 20 saal purana data bhi.. Customer ID ..se track ho jaata hai... that last N years with us.. you got this this and this items.

.

Yes, local shops (and certainly L and M) prefer to do a spot check too, with their qualified personnel.

.

That does not happen online, but isn't a deal breaker.

Well telling what my dad said as he got his eye tested offline & based on that I Ordered specs but as per him they didn't helped him much plus had issues with frame too although that was not so prominent brand.

But the same goes for every platform as it's good to have 1st person experience & if tests & lens are made by same entity then it's better imo.

Normal bifocal - the near sight power is restricted to a small round shape in bottom and middle of glass (the ones that is commonly used by ppl - these are most affordable ones)

Digital Bifocal: From the middle of the glass, entire lower half will have near sight power while the upper half will have far sight power. Since old ppl generally don't use computers more (atleast in my case), hence it was suggested. () I doubt lenskart has this variation coz they nvr told me).

Both these bifocal lens don't have intermediate power which is available only in a Progressive lens (This also comes in 3 -4 flavors depending upon the blurriness on the side of glass, lower the blurred area, higher the visibility and higher price).

Acrylic frames are the ones that look like plastic but are more durable. They don't sit hard on the nose.

Fancy way of saying progressive or to make it sound more impactful.

.

Practically nobody any longer 'moulds' glass or polymers to create progressive lenses.

.

They are all chiseled by laser guided mechanisms only.

Pehle lagta tha ki 'Essilor USA' kuch jyada hee over-charge karte hein.. due to oligopoly.

.

But then I realised.. overcharging or high pricing apart.. jisko 'dhang se' prayog karna aata ho.. woh Crizal type surfaces ko.. achhe se 4-5 saal se jyada chala hee lete heiN.

By then or before that, the number itself changes sometimes.

.

Same way.. (from Essilor) Varilux are actually technically and workmanship-wise amongst the best progressive lenses.

(Baaki isme koi dou raai nahin heiN.. ki woh.. dabaa ke chunna lagatey heiN. No doubt their pricing is a bit too high/ luxury).

I suggest you go through some youtube videos to get a clear understanding else visit a local optician. They should be explaining it to you properly since you're going to give them business.

Go on, you can deal with it now that you're somewhat familiar with these terms now.

Bro… I’ll suggest to go for local offline spec shops.
They have all varieties of lenses & frames. They are very good in resolving all concerns + they are a doorstep away in case any issue arises in future. Prices are competitive too. They will surely match prices of online stores.
For frame, its all about touch n feel & comfort of the person. Do a little research online for glasses though.

I have been buying from lenskart for long. However, cranial size (width) of frame is important So better to buy once from offline lenskart to get clear idea of the actual width of the different sizes.

For those having dual powers (for distance and for reading, Progressive bifocal is good for normal day to day activities. However, for long term reading or working in front of computers, separate dedicated specs with only reading power is preferable, as otherwise a person is bound to have neck pain.

For long term outdoor day activities, a powered sunglass (with only distance power) helps a lot.

Most persons have slightly different powers in each of their eyes. So it is better to have proper eye checkup before ordering specs. In addition to normal power, the pupil distance (PD) is also important.

I have one progressive bifocal for normal times, a powered sunglass and two (one for office and one for home) reading glasses (with special coating for reading digital screens)

This Pupil Distance (PD) testing - can this test be done in shops like lenskart?

Yes. Lenskart outlets keep handheld machines for this.

membership works fine. coupon code may or may not work, depending upon the type of coupon. price is same online/offline.
