Friends need to purchase specs online for seniors.few questions-
- when eye doctor gives number for eyes, the specs shop once checks the number with the lenses and frames but online this cant be done.is this ok?
- is it advisable to get single specs for + and - eye numbers?
- any good brands for lenses and frames?
- are lenses made of glasses and made of plastic type material same in quality?
- please share good specs websites with good customer support
- any other points for this?
Please share good deals also

Don't wear specs bro but had purchased 1-time online for dad before but wasn't a good experience.

I think it's stil better to go to store and buy them directly lenskart seems good in this if looking for a brand+store experience rest there are lot of em now.

Regularly purchasing from lenscart . experience has been good.

No comes perfect so no issue. All lenses are machine cut so even axis is perfect...

Local shop will shape the glass manually and will have error on axis..

if you can arrange and its availeble then lenskart home eye test is advisable as the local optician may or may not give you accurate prescription. in mumbai i have heard that they keep secret encryption( like extra one in sperical and less one in cylendrical which they only can decrypt ) in the prescription so that you dont get perfect vision if you make specs from elsewhere.

I visited both online and offline shops inclulding lenskart.
Specs was needed for my mom and the offline local store guy was very good in helping us choose the frame and showed us different types of lens. Suggested that we go for digital bifocal (satin +) since it was under budget and progressive is more reqd. for ppl who work on laptop or desktops more. He also suggested that we go for an acrylic frame which doesn't has explicit nose pads since the regular usage of older specs had left a black mark on both sides of nose.
Felt satisfied and purchased it from there even though I had lenskart gold membership and would have got an aviator for me too under B1G1.

Bro… I’ll suggest to go for local offline spec shops.
They have all varieties of lenses & frames. They are very good in resolving all concerns + they are a doorstep away in case any issue arises in future. Prices are competitive too. They will surely match prices of online stores.
For frame, its all about touch n feel & comfort of the person. Do a little research online for glasses though.

I have been buying from lenskart for long. However, cranial size (width) of frame is important So better to buy once from offline lenskart to get clear idea of the actual width of the different sizes.

For those having dual powers (for distance and for reading, Progressive bifocal is good for normal day to day activities. However, for long term reading or working in front of computers, separate dedicated specs with only reading power is preferable, as otherwise a person is bound to have neck pain.

For long term outdoor day activities, a powered sunglass (with only distance power) helps a lot.

Most persons have slightly different powers in each of their eyes. So it is better to have proper eye checkup before ordering specs. In addition to normal power, the pupil distance (PD) is also important.

I have one progressive bifocal for normal times, a powered sunglass and two (one for office and one for home) reading glasses (with special coating for reading digital screens)

This Pupil Distance (PD) testing - can this test be done in shops like lenskart?
