After getting change of 2000 he kept 350 and gave 1650 to lady but the main thing is the amount 1650 is not from his pocket its from change of 2000 so it means he is still having no loss and got 350 of goods cost.
Now this time he has to return to other shopkeeper 2000 which will be from his pocket and he lost the cost of good as well.
Thus the total amount he lost is 2350 (2000 from his pocket to shopkeeper and 350 cost of good).
I had lots of discussion with lots of people and this is the final conclusion.

If the shopkeeper got real money and later thrown it away or tore down the 2000 note, then what will be the loss of the shopkeeper?

Loss is 2000 only

Lady (profit 2000)
Got 350 worth free grocery
Got 1650 in cash

Shopkeeper from next Shop
no profit no loss

Shopkeeper 1 (loss 2000)
There are multiple ways to compute this lost. But this cannot be greater than or less than total profits from other parties. This is a universal fact so digest this.

Assuming “duplicate” note as fake currency

Total loss —) 350 worth of goods and 1650 cash and he has 2k worth of duplicate note

Explanation

Imagine shopkeeper has 2000 rs with him..
Now this lady comes and take 350 worth goods.. and gave 2000 rs note.. he took change from nearby shopkeeper..
Now shopkeeper has 4000(2000 base + 2000 change)

Now he gives 1650 back to lady..
Now shopkeeper has 2350 left

Now the nearby shopkeeper comes and tells note i fake and takes back 2000

Now shopkeeper has 350 in the end

So, if we calculate he has 2000 and left with 350..
So, cashloss = 1650
And 350 worth goods.. that the lady took with her

Answer is 3650₹.

1) Lady purchased some groceries and gave 2000 note to Shopkeeper.

2) Then Main shopkeeper gave that 2000 to next shopkeeper and get 2000 change.

Till here main shopkeeper have 2000 profile.

3) He gave 1650₹ and grocery to lady.

Here shopkeeper have no loss.
(Because he is selling goods with zero profit means he purchased that much grocery in 350 and selling it in 350).

4) Later main shopkeeper gave 2000 to next shopkeeper because of duplicate note.

Here shopkeeper incurred loss of 2000.

So total loss is 2000.

Fun to reply at old posts.
I like to think it the simpler way. In this scenario you can be at loss only if someone is gaining.
The other shopkeeper is not gaining anything.
Lady is gaining 350 worth of goods+1650 Rs. So loss is 2000.
People who are getting 4000, don’t count what the shopkeeper had to give. Rs. 1650 which is he giving to the lady isn’t his, it’s of the other shopkeeper. He paid with fake note.

Loss of 2000 rupees.
Grocery lost Rs 350 plus money returned by him Rs 1650. So total Rs 2000 loss

I hope it was not yours laughing laughing
