Hello Dimers,
From Day one, Being Savings-obsessive people we are, We always wanted to highlight the very best deals on our Home Page of DesiDime. We use to manually select deals as FPD and highlight them on our home page. Idea was simple, we need to showcase the best deals regardless of the user who has posted it or the merchant. The deal should help people save money!
With community growing, Selection of FPD started to become more and more difficult. Some deals would run out of stock very soon, Some deals we could not promote as FPD as earlier we might not have promoted similar ones. We slowly started to create rules for FPD which kept growing every month… We started getting tags for making deals FPD… which was not the original idea… Some deals, the discussion was more about FPD rather than the deal itself.
We also introduced Hotness last year to portray the hotness of the deal(whatever the community feels about the Deal) and have been constantly working on its algorithm. Starting sometime in September, We (Select Admins, Moderators, Users with deal promotion power) would not be promoting deals as FPD anymore. With scale, we feel that Community is mature enough to choose good deals.. and most of the Home page deals will be powered by what community feels with certain Editorial content management.
We would still be involved in highlighting certain deals (like bumping upcoming deals which went live, showcasing certain deals which we feel community might have missed etc, removing deals which might be illegal or very user specific, removing deals which are intentionally bumped by users etc..) but our action will not result in a user getting FPD etc. Our objective is to make process more democratic while still keeping some editorial control of home page. Most of the deals on home page will be shown based on users reaction to the deals. So its what about what community/Dimers at large feels about the deal..
Users statistics like FPD count will be replaced with better metrics like Average Temperature, HOT Deals (Deals with more than 300 Degree hotness in x number of days) which would still justify and highlight the Best Deal Posters. Obviously, Number of Historical FPD will be still shown on user profile page
As shared earlier, even Dimes reward will now be based on reaction of community to the deal which will allow any user posting a very very good deal to get upto 100 Dimes while very cold deals can even get 0 Dimes. This we feel will remove users who spam deals.
And yes, We will also be launching a Revived Gift portal later end of this year where Dimers can automatically convert their Dimes into Gift Cards of their choice.. So no more filling up forms etc 
We would love to hear what Dimers think! We are super-excited to give more power to community… as we have always believed that “Community is everything…”

So as the platform has evolved the Dime system has not evolved !
This is an attempt to change that and make it more dynamic
Current system as we see has one flaw !
It does not differentiate between good deals / great deals / Mad Crazy deals
It treats them all as one !
So how do we change it
Is to have dynamic dime distribution based on algorithm !!
what it means is that a deal can get 0.2 dime, 2 dime 10 dime…….100 dime
Depending on how the deal is performing on various parameter determined by the algorithm
So if some one comes and posts deals which they know are going to get them an FPD….. but the community knows its an avg deal then the system will distribute dimes accordingly and not necessarily give 20 dimes
This is our first thought, this is not final…… this thread is meant to start the discussion so that we can change the way we do things….. please add your comments so that as community we can get a better system in place

Hotness level should not depend on no. of comments.
1) Comments may have jokes.
2) Useless Ques.
3) pm me like message
Example: Rahul Gandhi jokes get more famous than Modi.
But we know the truth who is better.
New people never get good attention even though they are good deals
Admins should work on that in some or other way

Im not sure if the community will honour the posts of new and lesser known people with the same intensity as they do with the top posters because the community largely follows these top dimers and even average deals by them are voted above some genuine deals by newbies and all ..
One good feature of current system is that new and lesser known people get the necessary encouragement & community attention for sure when admins convert their posts for FPD …im not sure if they will get the same push and encouragement from the community.
Also, i think newbies should often be given more encouragement as they are the ones who will grow DesiDime as a family and admins should find a way to increase their engagement .
@admin You can decrease dimes to 10 or 5 for every fpd. You can also give some extra dimes according to hotness or votes. There is no harm removing 1 dime for submitting any offer/ deal. Imo, members who search, compare and post good deals are more important than members who only post comments. After all we all love good deals.
You are user/1, if you have decided anything then go ahead, you know what is good for this community.

Still if u make a new thread many dimers who have great ideas will not involve so think u are lion and they are bakri bakri ka shikkar karne ke liye kuch toh dena padega na T:to hunt goat u must give her some rapacity I mean make it like a contest if u will make it a type of contest and provide the dimer who suggested the best then the involvment of dimers will be at the peaks but prizes must be minimum attractive else they r not gonna spend their brain for some 50 100rs only rest all ur gng to decide but I feel if u provide the dimer prize more than 250 everyone is surely gonna be in the discussion and u will get the best suggestion it’s my opinion rest ur the boss @admin @bumblefoot @trickytimer
Also remove Army Rule from DD 
@admin I mean demolish the army based hierarchical ranking system and keep only titles like DEAL HUNTER , SHOPPING FRIEND , DEAL LEGEND, DEAL PERFECTIONIST , BUDDING STAR etc.
As these titles somehow indicate equality among dimers along with their own skill/talent. 
Change is required and if this dont work properly after implementation you can fall back to current function. I hope you have other global communities as partner and you can look into what statergy they follow to deal with this. Additionally ill suggest on fpd page you can have separate strip (flash kind of or changing / moving) for featured deals which can still be in control of DDTeam with this bew feature rolled out above. If you dont keep lucarative or revised motivations it will not work properly ( you might have observed from past year thrs a drop in community action due to added mode of deal sharing like whatsapp etc). The idea of this webpage in itself is one motivation but to keep ppl engaged you need to work on more ideas. Sharing a experience/ feedback should be motivated in addition to deal posting. But the democracy is good for community and u said ull keep a check then its fine. Good luck Team.
Very Bad Step, i think if u implement such new conditions then you will lose many deal posters. Instead they will prefer creating their own site and post there. 
anyways best of luck.
I would like to suggest various things as follows:
1. Please remove system of gold dimes and provide dimes directly eg 100degree hotness 4 dimes ..like that
2. Remove fpd system or change rules of it..
3. Improve system of tracking fake accounts as they get benefits more in housie type contest, other dimers which are genuine are left over..
4.Create a seperat redemption forums for dimes..
5.Make visible free giveaways on homepage as all dimers donot get benefit and giveaway finishes off.
6.Create a help and complain section sothat complains can be filed and solved easily and response ahould also be improved..
I am not against DD,but this suggestions make DD more user friendly and easy to use. I hope it will be taken into consideration.

The best thing you can do is that if a deal generate good traffic on your site ..you can share 10 percent of the desidime earnings in form of dimes..but then you need to track rack account so that artificial traffic is not created

I beleive it will change current process that senior dimers post promoted even without any hotness…and many times new dimers post ignored…
Also plz give option to change our vu/vd if we have given mistakenly or we feel later that post is not good or have some issues

I would like to know how your propose to deal with the following 2 cases
1) Posting incomplete information when the deal goes live. 2 examples
a) Pepperfry WTF deals
Before I even started posting these, I used to observe what was going on at 10.55. People use to post just one link and then update the rest later. Not even all 5 links were posted. No prices, no product names. Sometimes, some wise guys used to post the home page link of pepperfry and nothing else, just so that they could be first. Everything was updated later.
b) Amazon deals
Just the link is posted. T&C added later
2) Upcoming multi product deals (e.g Pepperfry WTF deals or in the past HS18 superdeals)
Upcoming deals are supposed to be complete in all respects except price
People post just a few of the deals and update the rest later. Or sometimes, they post incorrect deals and then update when the deal goes live
You should add an edit history to all posts including the original post so that everyone can see what was edited and when it was done.
for upcoming deal if someone adds t&c link then no issue
My suggestions: Free ke hain – lena hain toh lo – nahin toh as usual ignore kardo.
1) Upcoming threads – if you don’t have details or T&Cs – no credit, no hotness (irrespective of VUs) – basically nothing, as its a piece of news and not a deal.
2) No edit option should be given to OP the moment a deal is posted – if u post a deal – post it completely, else forget about editing it – no credit to incomplete deals – cant be claimed later as posted first (with incomplete or incorrect information). And even if u end up making genuine mistakes (like promo code spelled incorrectly, forgot to add web url or T&Cs link) – its your fault – post a new deal with proper information- or even better – curb your mistakes in the first place – just recheck before posting first. There should be no second chance to edit at all.
3) Hotness criteria sucks big time – But i don’t have any alternative as of now. So we just have to live with it and all the manipulation associated with it.
4) Promo code deals which have image posted (with promocode part of the image itself and not posted separately) – mark them invalid – cos other people are not able to search and ensure reposts are not posted. This may sound unfair – but if a person is taking effort to paste an image, he/she can definitely add one line of promo code.

5) How do you plan to control hotness on reposts (some of which go unnoticed) even to the point of getting promoted (or in this case getting highlighted) first and then realizing a valid deal already existed.
6) Do not display names of deal posters for first 15-20-30 minutes. Let the deal generate or gather hotness on its own instead of all the hotness getting added because some well known dimer has posted it. In this process deal seekers (regular dimers) dont verify authenticity of deal and sometimes OPs get away with even invalid deals becoming FPDs or highlighted and unnecessary hotness.
If a deal is genuinely good, it will gather heat on its own (irrespective of OP name) if dimers see it good enough. Isn’t that the whole point of you changing this FPD system??
OP names can be displayed after first 30 minutes have passed.
7) What about deals with refer n earn kind (ones like zomato piggy bank code and numerous others) that have super duper hotness temperatures only because everyone is asking for “Pm me a referral code” or "Pm me for referral code. I would prefer admin coming out with its own referral code and have the thread locked immediately for any further comments.
I personally feel, point 6 will help in curbing lot of other issues also (known or unknown) and could give true sense of how good a deal actually is.
Rest, u guys would neways have and will more often than not use “editorial content management” veto power to override everything else or to highlight any missed out good deals.

FPD should have min 20 dimes come what may. And you can increase the dimes based on hotness.
If you take away the minimum dimes, why would anyone post a deal here. Its like a lottery…
1)Please give an option to delete their own post at any time without admin intervention!!
2)Kindly share how many admins are available for this site.

hmmm… Something different is being tried. Again it is both positive or negative. On the positive side, it aligns the rewards with deal hotness; on the negative side, many good deals may get ignored as well

If a deal can be super hot it can be extremely cold also
They removed this feature after major fight amongst dimers… 
Introduce tips option to dimers
So we can give tips to dimers who post good deals and encourage them to post more in desidime
Like zomato tips system
I think there will instances where some good deals posted by newbies and not so popular Dimers will just go unnoticed,
And not so good deals will also get promoted.
Also people will now stop posting more deals so in that case you might see motivation levels going down among Dimers, resulting into lower website traffic.
Also there will increase in groupism, ‘I upvote your deal and you mine’ as it was before introducing hotness Meter.
And last fake votes from fake ID’s will grow.
