Guys, I have a VI Delhi number that I only use for incoming SMS. Currently, VI charges Rs.24 from main balance every 15 days to keep number active and I do not get any amount to use or benefits for this recharge. My main balance is going to finish soon and I was wondering if there is a better plan to recharge with for keeping number active.

Can you please suggest cheapest option to recharge that will increase the validity and  keep number active.

I am okay to recharge with more amount if that helps brings down monthly cost.

Thanks

There is a recharge option of Rs. 49 that gives a balance of Rs.38 with 28 days validity. Will this balance expire after 28 days or can be used for next recharge ??

Also, how about if I recharge with a SMS plan of Rs. 26 for 28 days. Will this extend validity of the number itself ?

Sms is a top up and not base plan. You need to recharge min 49.Better use Amazon to get 100% upto 50 offer, that too user specific.

You need to keep watching the offer section of that number *121#.. so that you will get some recharge offers like
₹39=₹39 with 28days validity (but its secondary balance which will expire after validity)
and sometimes will get ₹100 topup with regular talktime (main balance) with 28days service validity.
Otherwise you need to ignore monthly deduction of 48 (24+24) as it is. No other option.

Rs. 48 pack gives 3GB data and 28 days validity which is a lot better than Rs. 49 pack if you’re not gonna use the TT.

What is the cheapest option in BSNL to keep number active ?

Btw, isn’t BSNL going bankrupt too ?

BSNL would have gone bankrupt 10 years ago if not for the government keeping it alive. Worst company ever.

I think best is port to BSNL and recharge of 365 rs for 365 days with 2 GB per day for 60 days and free talking also.

I don’t know if it’s still relevant today but
@DealLooter had suggested recharge of 100 which extends validity by 28 days & gives 81 talktime.

https://www.desidime.com/discussions/idea-valid...

Thanks .. so were you able to use 81 balance afterwards to recharge again or that expires after 28 days ?

I read in a post on the link shared above that one drawback with Jio number is that it should be kept in a 4G phone to keep it active ..

It is getting deducted from 81 balance as I haven’t done any new recharge & my number is still active. But confirm with customer care as I recharged some time back.

If you have no specific use of Vi then Jio or BSNL are cheaper. For Jio as you mentioned 4g device is required.

This seems best .. as Rs.100 recharge will last for 2.5+ months (base 28 days + 45 days (24*3))

Have u tried from voda website, check if they offer u 39 plan. If it is shown then u can recharge from paytm/amazon and it will give 39 secondary balance and 28 day validity.
After validity expires enjoy 7
day free incoming and then again do this 39 recharge when needed.
Ps: 39 plan is user specific, not always shown. But i think it is available once ur validity expires. I am using it regularly. More economical than 100 recharge as i need only incoming, getting 35 days incoming in 39rs.
One more thing i recently noticed, i am getting all otps even after incoming validity expired

Another advantage of BSNL is extra talk time – 1100 recharge gives 1200 talktime. Though I’m not aware if this plan can be recharged through main balance as it also depends on circle. Still a cheap option to keep SIM active.

Thanks … I had balance in my account so, VI automatically deducted 24 and extends validity by 15 days  before I can look for recharge. I get a SMS that balance will be deducted in 3 days but I think plan is still active at that time.

Btw, if I recharge a plan in advance in VI, does it stack like Jio or it gets activated immediately ..

Thanks .. I am not sure regarding the connectivity bad service if BSNL in our area.. although the use is limited, these sms are critical and need to be received timely ..

Jio seems better .. i will see if porting can be done easily …In meanTime need to recharge VI…

Thanks for everyone’s suggestions

I dont think idea and airtel stack smart recharges, only unlimited plans stack, that too i think needs to be same (based on what i read on dd).
I have never done advance recharge on voda/airtel so cant tell surely.
